Panasonic DMR-PWT530EB 3D Blu-ray/DVD/HDD 500GB with Freeview HD Twin Recorder

Product information

Not just a Blu-ray player, Panasonic’s DMR-PWT530 comes with enough storage to keep track of your favourite programmes, as well as dual HD tuners so you can record more at once. It’ll also add new life to your DVDs with easy 3D upscaling. This smart-enabled reorder even has access to the Viera Connect service, giving you a world of entertainment from social media like Facebook to movies.

Key benefits:

  • Because the recorder is equipped with two Freeview HD tuners, two different TV programmes can be recorded simultaneously. There is no need to worry about missing out on recording a programme when two programmes overlap.

  • With a huge 500GB of storage you can record up to 129 hours of HD, or 259 hours of SD content with the push of a button.

  • Pansonic’s Viera Connect service gives you access to content like Netflix, YouTube and Facebook from the comfort of your armchair.

  • By registering with the Panasonic Remote Recording Service, you can navigate and search on the programme guide and set timer-recording of TV programmes using your smartphone or tablet from anywhere with an internet connection.

  • Send a recorded programme or live broadcast to your Android Tablet or iPhone/ iPad/ iPod touch wirelessly, then watch the content wherever you like in your home.

  • The DMR-PWT530 also comes with DLNA. Just connect to your home network and stream media easily from connected computers and other devices.

  • Incredibly fast switch on and start up times mean that this player is ready to play a movie in moments.

Q & As

Panasonic DMR-PWT530EB 3D Blu-ray/DVD/HDD 500GB with Freeview HD Twin Recorder 4.1 5 24 24
Panasonic DMR-PWT530EB The recorder is stylish with slim lines and has a very quiet motor. It's useful that the programme info is recorded with the title, but it would be helpful if it also provided a visual 'trailer', as do some other recorders. The two-second delay in resuming play after pausing or fast-forwarding can be annoying; however, a plus point is the ability to skip ads quite quickly by giving four or five successive depressions of the '1-minute forward button' function, which is less hit-and-miss than simply fast-forwarding. It would have been more useful if the time-lapse fuction operated from the start of the recorded title rather than the stopped position as it is more usual to access a particular point in a programme from its beginning as opposed to some arbitary point. Video editing is rather more convoluted than with some other recorders as it tends to require you to utilise multiple menus. Overall, very satisfied with the quality and function of the product as an HD TV recorder. 14 December 2014
excellent picture I bought the Panasonic DMR-PWT530EB to replace my previous Panasonic DVD recorder. On the previous machine I was able to record programmes to both HDD and DVD discs. The new machine does not have this facility. Please advise which machine does have the ability to record programmes to DVD discs. I have no complaints regarding the picture quality which is excellent and the dual HD tuners are a great bonus. 06 November 2014
Good but... A good machine and up to usual Panasonic standard but there are some limitations: 1. You cannot copy TV recordings to discs. 2. You need at least Windows 7 to watch recorded TV programmes on a networked TV. 3. It does not come with wireless networking built-in. The additional dongle is very expensive. I would have been better to buy the DMR-PWT635 which has inbuilt wireless networking and a hard disc of twice the size. It is not much more expensive but is only available from another retailer. I would have been wiser to have done a little more research. 11 October 2014
Smart but little niggles Takes a few times to read the manual to learn the 'ins and outs' of the machine. Quality recording though. If aiming to play old recordings on DVDs then you should 'finalise' the DVDs on your old machine. Otherwise they are unlikely to play on the new machine. The clock time doesn't display. I noted the 'comment' from other owners but the suggestion made- ' Function menu-Others-Set up-Others- Clock' doesn't work. The 'On' and 'Off' switch is to automatically update the clock - not to 'display' on screen. Perhaps there are other suggestions out there? Also after switching off the recorder, it doesn't automatically switch back to my TV without going through a couple of steps on my Samsung Smart TV. Looks like I have to read the manual again! 04 September 2014
Very good value for money I needed a new digital recorder to replace the old one that I've had for several years. This product was an excellent replacement as it also incorporates a DVD/Blu-ray player. It is very easy to use although I do not use all the facilities that it offers. 02 September 2014
Great product but ....... Bought this product a couple of weeks ago to upgrade an older model of the same make. Overall I am very happy with the ease with which it set itself up and it really is a very good product and easy to use. The only minor problem I encountered with this model is that it did not come supplied with a HDMI lead considering that the model only has HDMI connectivity to the TV so be warned that you will need to consider ordering this lead separately. 27 August 2014
