Panasonic Lumix DMC-LF1 Digital Camera, HD 1080i, 12.1MP, 7.1x Optical Zoom, NFC, Wi-Fi, EVF, 3” LCD Screen

Product information

The Panasonic DMC-LF1 is an extraordinarily slim compact camera equipped with NFC and Wi-Fi. A unique control ring and composition guide helps you to frame everything just the way you want while staying easy to use. Automatic backup options also help to keep your memories safe. Using your smartphone or tablet as a remote shutter release and viewfinder is also possible.

Key benefits:

  • The DMC-LF1 is equipped with a new 28mm wide angle LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMICRON lens with 7.1x optical zoom (35mm camera equivalent: 28-200mm). The high amount of light allows higher shutter speeds and clearer, sharper, blur-free images in low-light situations, while giving impressive gradation and mellow defocus.
  • A 12.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS Sensor is larger in size than standard digital compact cameras. Thanks to the extensive light receiving area of each cell, the performance of high sensitivity image recording in low light is obviously superior with its excellent S/N ratio and wide dynamic range. The result is high-resolution images with stunning clarity.
  • With a 0.2-inch EVF with 100% field of view you can capture pictures easily, even under strong sunlight. The 3-inch, LCD screen also features automatic brightness adjustment, ensuring easy visibility at all times. The big screen with AR coating reflects fine details, making it easy to check the focus before shooting.
  • Manual control is easy thanks to the Control Ring, which enables direct, control over settings like zooming, aperture, shutter speed, ISO sensitivity and filtering of Creative Control / Creative Panorama. Composition Guide is a great choice for beginners, helping to refine shooting styles and techniques.
  • With Wi-Fi connectivity and NFC, you can connect the camera to your smartphone or tablet anywhere with one-touch, which makes sharing images much easier. It’s also possible to use a smartphone/tablet as a remote shutter with a monitor.
  • With Instant Transfer, photos are automatically backed up to a smartphone or tablet right after shooting. Photos and video can also be archived to computers automatically via your wireless network at home.
  • Includes battery, charger, strap, software CD and USB cable.

Q & As

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pocket Perfect With Panasonic innards and a pin sharp Leica lens this was never going to disappoint. But with a (small) view finder, decent zoom and intuitive controls in a pocketable format it really is superb value for money. The performance, handling and images captured are all excellent. Don't buy this if you have large hands, wear glasses or insist on DSLR speed. Otherwise, this could be all the camera you ever need. 06 October 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good camera! go for quality not pixels I upgraded to this camera after initially buying a Sony WX220 with 18MP. I returned it to the JL store in York after trying it out for a week and a half as it was too "noisy" and blurry, - it only had an ISO of 3200. For over an hour, the patient JL staff in York guided me to this Lumix LF1, which is essentially the same specs as a Leica C camera and I'm very glad they did as I'm delighted. In short don't be suckered into the "pixels race"! Many compacts have a lot of noise and blur as they have quite low ISO ratings and small CMOS sensors. This LF1 is excellent as it has a larger MOS sensor and a bright sharp Leica lens to capture all the detail, so though it only has 12MP every pixel is larger, so produces a "cleaner" less blurry shot. I've only had it a week now but it has been excellent in a range of settings from nighttime to high-contrast day. It does best in the macro to 20ft shot range, beyond this if you zoom in on landscapes some pixellation will occur, as it only has a 7x optical, but overall you get well metered, good-contrast shots with fine detail. So far I've only shot in JPEG which compresses the image, the RAW uncompressed format may offer up even more potential. The LF1 has a nice simple control dial and straightforward controls at the rear for those wanting to be more experimental, i.e. for macro shots, (closeups of flowers, insects etc). As well as being a solidly made camera, it also has an LVF, "Live View Finder" which might sound a bit old-fashioned but allows you to frame shots in bright sunshine without squinting at the screen. As all the details are reproduced in the small viewfinder you can easily compose your shots. So for me, this is a great camera for those wanting more than a point-and shoot compact but don't want to carry around a big DSLR. So far -- recommended! 21 September 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Superb camera Really good quality camera with an excellent viewfinder and a quality lens. Top choice. 18 August 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Digital Camera This pocket size digital camera from Panasonic really is a great bit of kit. Solid and well built with simply loads of features but so easy to use. I may be nearly 70 but I do have an eye for a good camera when I see it. Been taking pictures for 60 years and this is really great. Link it to your smartphone and use your phone or tablet to store and take pictures. Pin sharp pictures with a great zoom and lens by Leica. Needs a high speed card for storage and has good battery life. So simple even Granny could use it. 16 June 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Keep it good and simple First, I agree with the first reviewer. I wanted a camera for everyday use. I already have a large Canon SLR with extra lenses but it is too bulky for casual use. So it had to be a pocketable size but with good optics, this has Leica, and quality image results. Also I wanted a eye level viewfinder as well as a screen, to use in bright light conditions. I was ruthless in not getting carried away with specification fever! I feel that most modern cameras do far more than necessary. This camera fits my spec yet still has enough extras to give opportunity for a little "play" The eye level viewfinder is very good especially considering it's size. Finally a special thank you to the staff member at JL Cambridge who was knowledgeable and an enthusiast! 02 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Camera This camera has an electronic viewfinder, which was the main reason for choosing it. The camera was left on Automatic (Ai) setting and I am more than pleased with the results. The camera has performed flawlessly in good light, in badly lit tombs, and also with backlit subjects. I aso like the fact that it is small and pocketable. 23 May 2014
