Q & As

Not a lightweight. AS a "point press "man , using the a camera for work projects , not as light as my last Lumix , but a superb camera, really impressed !!!!! 23 July 2014
Disappointing I bought the red one, but the insides are the same so I'm leaving a review on the page for the black one, which is what I suspect most people will look at. Yes, the screen is good, yes, it tilts nicely. Yes, the WiFi connects to my Android phone and my daughter's iPhone (though not the Apple AirPort). The remote control app is the coolest thing. Start-up is slow, even when you find out how to turn off the default time-wasting options. My main complaint is that it's advertised as having 16 megapixels, which is misleading. I have spent several hours taking identical pictures with the TZ55 and my old TZ6 - then comparing them side by side on my 27 inch iMac. The pictures from the TZ55 are all noticeably worse than those from the old TZ6. They have a lot more noise and resolve slightly less detail. Even reducing them to 3 megapixels does not hide the noise. For me the purpose of a camera is to take pictures. This one gets a FAIL for being worse than a much older model while claiming to be better. If I had not trusted Panasonic so much I would have done the tests earlier and taken it back for a refund. Too late for that. Ebay, anyone? 29 June 2014
Not bad I had the DMC-ZS3 which was very good a bit slow sometimes taking pictures. I bought this because it was the same sort of price range and I expected it to be better. The zoom is better, I think it is a little quicker to take pictures as professional reviews suggest but don't expect anything special. The wifi is over played, it dids not connect to a virgin media hub, it did not connect to a wireless enabled laptop, it did not connect to a wire enabled desktop, it did not connect to a windows htc phone it does connect to a Samsung phone and I believe it will contact to a apple. I have attempted to get information from their tech support and they have no answers or send me more copies of their pdf instructions that do not work. Thankfully I have the 14 day returns provided by John Lewis and unless something magic happens soon I will be returning it. 18 May 2014
