Panasonic LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm f/2.8 ASPH POWER OIS Standard Lens

Product information

The ideal lens for just about any occasion, the Pansonic LUMIX G X VARIO 12-35mm is great for day-to-day snaps, portraits and lowlight shooting. The high performance X lens system balances anti-distortion techniques and lifelike rendering for images that shine.

Nano surface coating and enhanced optical image stabilisation help to enhance your pictures even further. Aberrations from reflections are made non-existent, while even fast moving action, hand tremble and shutter-release shake are compensated for.

Key benefits:

  • The POWER OIS boasts extreme motion repression. It’s particularly effective for a low-frequency vibration, which is physically generated when pressing the shutter button or when shooting at night with a slow shutter speed. Enjoy improved shot quality where flash isn’t available or just isn’t an option.
  • Advanced lens design. Four aspherical lenses, one UED lens and one UHR lens in 14 lenses in nine groups realise outstanding compactness, while maintaining image quality. When mounted on a LUMIX G compact system camera, this lens can use the contrast AF system for high accuracy and high speed photography.
  • Enjoy the same great performance when shooting video too. In addition to this lens’ ability to use auto focus in videos, silent design suppresses lens drive noise that can ruin quieter recordings.
  • Superior inner focus system provides excellent resolution and contrast without changing the overall length from full life-size magnification to infinity. Seven blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth defocus effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings.
  • This lens incorporates Panasonic’s unique Nano Surface Coating technology which minimises reflections throughout the entire visual range (380nm-780nm). The result is a dramatic reduction of ghosts and flare for extremely clear picture quality.
  • A rubber ring on the lens mount allows this lens to stand against moisture and dust making it ideal for outdoor photography. A highly reliable metal mount endures long time use.

Q & As

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 11 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice Lens This is my everyday lens as its fast and works in most conditions. Lens is used for both pic and video. 18 February 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by High Quality Lens This is my first lens to go with my first mft's camera (GH4). I was worried that the fitting was very tight with the lens mount, but was assured by support that it is supposed to fit snug. Performance wise, it handles chromatic aberrations well wide open. It has fast focusing, smooth focus ring, and compact in size. I use this as an all around lens for video and occasional photos. I could have opted to go with prime lenses first, but this is a highly regarded lens and I agree. It is not uber great, but it is a good overall and high quality choice with decent OIS. 17 February 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Pictures, even at low light I bought a Lumix DMC-GH3 with a kit lens. The kit lens works great outside (in daylight), but the zoom was so limited, so I bought this LUMIX® G X VARIO 12-35mm / F2.8 ASPH. Lens. I've used it for both pictures and video and have been very pleased by the quality compared to the kit lens. This past weekend I was asked to shoot some pictures for a church (in low light - no flash). I shot closeups of the band playing in practice, then during the meeting from a longer distance. The G X series works much better than the less expensive lens. The darker portions of the picture were still clear, not distorted due to low light (like my other lens). It's not a cheap lens, but I'd say it's worth the investment. I will say, it has a tendency to overexpose when using automatic settings, but the color and clarity are awesome. 19 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Extremely Versatile I have used this lens for 8 months now and it has hardly comes off of my camera, a GX7. The lens covers the range that is most useful to me and its fast F2.8 aperature and sharp results satisfy most of my shooting needs. 18 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Must-have This is the perfect companion to a GH4. In the size of an APS-C SLR kit zoom, you get a very refined 2.8 zoom with real quality feel. It may not be the ideal match to a really compact body or if you really want to travel light (try 12-32 for that), but for most GH-series users, this is the standard zoom to have at a good price for what you get. f/2.8 may not give you massive dof control on m43, but it is more useful for everyday shooting that it is on a larger format DSLR and this lens is sharp wide open across the range and frame and with stabilization to really help the smaller format sensors in low-light. I wish it would to a clickless constant-aperture zoom-in in video mode and that Panasonic would offer a 2k f/2 OIS lens that one could dream about, but for most shooters, this is really the standard zoom to get. 17 November 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by excellent lens for all around use, but a bit expensive 17 November 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Go To Lens This is my go to lens for everyday stills and video. 17 November 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Mixed feelings Overall good and versatile lens. One great disadvantage is that this lens is not parfocal, i.e. focus point is shifting when zooming. Also missing: extension tubes 21 August 2015
