Panasonic MC-UL712 Upright Vacuum Cleaner 2.8 5 14 14
A big let down I think this is a rubbish machine. There is very little suction when using the hose even after immediately emptying the container. Capacity is too small and very messy to empty. Our beater bar broke too.Readily overheats and then you must wait ages for cooling down. It's difficult to know whether it's working or not - you need to keep looking ! Very manoeuvrable and ok on carpets as long as that's all you need. Why does the cable come out at the bottom ? Obviously not well designed and a let down for all the previous Panasonics we have had over the years. After struggling for a year we went out and bought a Vax. 18 February 2014
Great Vacuum On the 2nd one as 1st broke after 1 yr Got a refund from Curry's and rebought from John Lewis and took advantage of the extended warranty My wife absolutely loves this vacuum We have had a Dyson before this and this is much better lighter easier to use Suction is great Would highly recommend One thing though I don't rate Panasonic's customer service as they refused to honour the warranty that I had from Curry's But all in all a great product 17 January 2014
Utterly unsatisfactory As a previous reviewer wrote, if lightness of weight is your one criteria, you might at first be interested in this. Don't be: its filter jams in a fortnight; the collection bin is tiny; and it is basically seriously underpowered and doesn't work well. Or indeed, ultimately at all: ours started making a foul electrical smell just a few days' short of being 1 year old. JL sensibly exchanged it, and we now have a Dyson. Avoid this product like the plague. 09 December 2013
Very poor product This product is very lightweight and easy to manoeuvre but sadly these are the only positive points about this vacuum cleaner. The capacity of the canister is very small and requires emptying far too often. The filters become totally blocked with minimal usage and therefore require washing and cleaning far too often. There are only two of us in the house, the children have left home and we have no pets so our dust levels are extremely low. This product just cannot do what it's supposed to do and is generally not fit for purpose. We would definitely not recommend this vacuum cleaner. 08 December 2013
The Worst Vacumn Cleaner We Have Ever Purchased We've had this product now for a year and I don't think we will have it for another. It is without doubt the worst vacumn cleaner we have ever purchased. It does have it's good points, correction, it does have one good point, it's very light. So what's wrong with it, well almost everything. 1. Useless on hard floors, although it does manage to push the dust into a nice neat pile so that you can use a dust pan and brush to collect it. 2. The dust canister is far too small and requires emptying very frequently, dust often gathers in the side of the canister which makes it very messy to clean. 3. Yes it light but that brings it's own penalties. Using the extender causes the cleaner to fall over far too easily. 4. The extender is not long enough to clean a average sized staircase. In mitigation it does appear to collect dust off carpets ok. So unless your only criteria is that you want a light vacumn cleaner then I would stay clear of this one. 17 October 2013
Compact, light, fairly effective but capacity and filter poor The pluses first - it's small, light, quiet and it cleans fairly effectively. But overall, this is not a product I'd recommend and won't consider buying a Panasonic again, because its filter is truly terrible. It needs almost weekly washing out, when the manual suggests it needs this monthly. This is in simple domestic use - a suburban house, mainly carpet and wooden floor. We're going to have to buy a spare filter, as it's not even predictable when it will simply stop cleaning due to being blocked. Buy something else. 18 September 2013
MC UL 712 Sorry John Lewis you normally sell good products I have had this for quite a few months, and it has not improved! The beater doesn't beat, and it has little use as is for my third floor only, to save me carrying it up the staircase. It is without doubt the worst appliance that I have bought from you. It simply doesn't do what it should do which is clean., 22 April 2013
The best value and quality! (compared to the well-known UK brand) Originally I visited John Lewis to buy other vacuum cleaner (the most expensive well known vacuum cleaner. sorry can't write the name). I am also a big fun of Panasonic so I did comparison test panasonic and the well known expensive vacuum cleaner. I took a cup of the dust out which was already in panasonic and spread and forced them on a carpet at the vacuum cleaner section (John lewis shop staff kidly let me do it) First I used the UK well known vacuum cleaner. It left lines of dust which was surprising. Sounds strong suction but not really. Then used Panasonic vacuum cleaner. It was quieter and it cleaned all the dusts! Panasonic was £300 cheaper than the expensive vacuum cleaner but cleaned far far better! I went back to home with panasonic and used it immediately. I cleaned my house every week and I just used a carpet cleaner a month ago so my house shouldn't be too dirty but I found a lot of dusts inside house by using Panasonic. This is AMAZING! carpet colour changed as well. I used Henry for 6 years but it didn't clean my carpet then! I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner. 04 March 2013
