Panasonic NN-CF853W Combination Microwave, Black/White

Product information

Panasonic's premium combination model NN-CF853W has a 32 litre cavity and is designed to enable you to cook delicious and nutritious meals your family will love. Packed with innovative features as well as being easy to both use and clean, the microwave also features a modern but timeless design, making it the ideal addition to any contemporary kitchen.

Panasonic’s NN-CF853W microwave features a flatbed, rather than a turntable. The flatbed not only creates a larger cooking area, it also means you can place dishes of all shapes inside the oven. Unlike a turntable, which needs to be removed, the flatbed design is much easier to clean.

Thanks to the 2-level convection cooking you can cook two levels simultaneously, to make even large families happier at mealtimes. A fan circulates the heat evenly throughout the oven so it reaches the food uniformly and efficiently, ideal for roasting and baking. Panasonic’s microwave also features an intelligent Sensor Cooking option that makes preparing perfectly cooked food easier than ever before.

The advanced new electrostatic touch panel with blue LED allows smart, easy setting operation with Swipe & Touch.

Please note: For proper operation, the oven must have sufficient air flow i.e. 5cm at one side, the other being open; 15cm clear over the top; 10cm at the rear.

Q & As

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good For Cooking But Not User Friendly Paid for next day delivery by 10.30 & JL did exactly that arriving before I had got up! Good points, looks great, seems well built, and having tried the microwave, grill & oven everything works well and does exactly as it should. On the whole worth the extra money. This machine is irritating to use though & not user friendly, it's all about common sense design. Despite a big machine and good eye sight the icons require strong reading glasses. The two tiny LED lights and tinted glass means any atrocity could be going on in the cooking process & you cannot observe it! Means much unnecessary opening of the door. The LED display is clear standing from left & centre but anything right of centre cannot be observed. I have noted this same issue from a reviewer on another site. 15 mins oven cooking and the fan runs for 45 mins after and it's loud. I think it would cool down more quickly without doing this! Not sure about the flimsy drip tray at the front, never collected a drop - purpose of it? Don't go beyond basic microwave, grill & oven, the instructions are rocket science. Grill 1,2,3 surely low/med/high is better as 1 is high! So there we have it, as usual JL were great, well built superb looking microwave and does your food as you want but dear oh dear get the magnifying glass out, don't expect to see what's happening, expect it to run afterwards three times longer than you cook & don't stand to the right of it! If anyone understands the programming instruction please contact NASA for a career, Oh and it's seriously heavy if you are on your own! 05 December 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A stylish versatile product! I was recommended by a friend to get a combination microwave when I needed to replace my old machine. I like the design of this Panasonic product. It is larger inside, with no turntable and three shelves. It is easy to operate with touch sensitive controls and easy to keep clean. It was a lot more expensive than an ordinary microwave but worth the extra money because it is so versatile and more economic to heat up rather than a large oven. 03 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Oven Really like the "no Turntable" design. This gives much more cooking space in a similar sized oven to the Panasonic we replaced. Very much quieter but a little disconcerting that its fan keeps running after cooking is finished. 03 November 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by High price poor performance I cannot stress strong enough how disappointed we are with this microwave. It is two days old and is being returned tomorrow(Monday) as we are not prepared to put up with it. Please read review by Billy J of over a year ago as we echo every single point therein plus. The grill is pathetic. Had to revert back to a frying pan after 10 minutes (thin bacon and half tomato) despite it being on high. Internal dimensions on Panasonic UK website are incorrect (misrepresentation??) and their response sub standard like their microwave. This microwave performs no better than those costing half the price. Sorry John Lewis but you are getting this one back. 27 September 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very useful addition to the kitchen Good looking machine lovely large capacity, overall cooking on all shelves consistent. Easy to use and to clean. Would recommend to anyone as a very good addition to the kitchen. 02 September 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product - lousy service. I needed to replace my previous Panasonic combination microwave. The doors having stopped working so could no longer use. I had had it some years so opted to replace rather than repair. I have microwaved, grilled and baked cakes in it so far with great success. The only disappointing part of the transaction was the disinterest of the sales staff who took a phone call when I was asking about microwaves which took a considerable length of time. He then pointed me in the direction of the microwaves gave minimal information. When I had decided which model to take he gave me a ticked and directed me to the pay desk across the store. I was at this time walking around with a stick recovering from a broken leg. 21 April 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by very disappointing I have had many Panasonic microwaves over the years. This is the most expensive - and the worst. The grill is poor. One large tomato sliced in two, put on the top level of the machine on high grill power, and not turned over was merely warmed through after 15 minutes. The microwave is uneven - despite hype about not needing a turntable. Frozen French bread had some areas warm while others were still frozen in the middle. Secondary complaints are about: - the internal light, which is useless - the time/time remaining display, which cannot be seen from 45 degrees from the right - the method of setting the time, which is user unfriendly (OK for short times but not easy for several minutes) - the tiny icons for each function on the control panel, which again are user unfriendly. - for the grill - why not have levels high, medium, low? Not an unintuitive 1,2,3. There is nearly no insulation to the casing so when used as an oven it gets very hot. The, I assume, cooling fan runs on and on and on. Well over 15 minutes after the oven has been used. It seems as if the machine has only ever been tested in a laboratory, never in a home by a "lay" user. Over many years in various location we have always had Panasonic machines. This is the most expensive - and the very worst - and if it were our first experience of Panasonic we would never touch them again! 20 September 2014
