Panasonic NN-CF873S Combination Microwave, Stainless Steel
The oven looks good and has, so far, worked well. Omitting the turntable gives much more usable space and the pull down door instead of a side hinged door makes for easier use. The information panel needs brighter illumination as it is dificult to see in a bright kitchen. Wotrh buying.

Best Microwave Oven
This oven solves many problems.. In microwave mode , it does not rotate as the microwave source rotates instead giving perfect results. A conventional non microwave mode is also available and this functions perfectly giving superb results

This is a seriously good microwave
Bought this after our previous microwave combination oven decided it had had enough. Not quite an impulse purchase, but it stood out from the crowd in an evenings Googling.
Our criteria were pretty simple; we wanted a combination oven (we probably use the oven more than the microwave) and it needed to be big enough for an ample family meal.
What we love:
- Size. Not having a turntable means the inside can be oblong not square, so suits most roasting pans better.
- Timer features. I love the fact that you can progamme in the wait time in the middle of microwaving frozen meals
- Combination cooking. Take time to read the manual and work out how to use some of the more advanced features. The assistant in John Lewis gave us great advice: try some of the recipes that come with the oven to get to understand the features, then adapt for your own use.
- The controls and 'slider'. I was a bit concerned about the slider from reading another review on this site, but for us it's really intuitive and simple. Generally the controls are clear and logical.
What we're not so keen on:
- The interior light is pitiful (but not sure that matters too much)
- After cooking (particularly using the fan oven), the fan seems to run for ages. I've not timed it, but it could easily be 10-15 minutes.
Oh, by the way, it actually cooks stuff really well too!

This microwave was smaller than I was expecting, much smaller than the one it replaced, but the lack of a turntable means it's almost as capacious. Two microwave meals (you don't expect me to COOK, do you! ?) just fit in side by side. I assume that I could do two level microwave cooking if I use the glass shelf, but that isn't made clear in the manual, which is a bit useless to be honest.
I haven't used it for anything adventurous (see note above re cooking) but it makes excellent jacket potatoes on sensor cook, heats the milk for my coffee, and zaps those microwave meals just fine.
On the downside, it is pitch black in there! The two LED lights are useless, and you can't see anything that's happening in the oven. Not much use when you're watching to make sure your milk doesn't boil over.
Another minus point is setting the cooking time. My previous oven would give a minute on high power when you pressed the start button. Very useful. It had 10 minute, 1 minute and 10 second buttons. Also very useful. The sliding time setting doodad is very sexy looking, but not actually that easy to use. I'm used to a couple of button presses to get my milk cooked for two minutes on high, now it's a case of press for power setting, slide up and down 5 times as you keep missing the 2 minute mark, and then press the start button.
Another thing I've noticed is that the numbers on the display aren't visible if you stand to the right side of the oven. If you're standing on the left (which for me involves climbing into the fridge) they show up fine, as they do when you're directly in front of it. But if you glance at the oven to check the time, you better hadn't be standing on the right.
The manual could be better. It's not easy to find what you're looking for.
All in all its it's an excellent machine, with loads of features I shall probably never use. But it's worth the outlay just for the jacket potatoes.

Purchased this as our last Panasonic Microwave died although it was old. Saw this and although it is a considered purchase it has more than lived up to expectations. For instance the oven has a 40 degree setting which is great for proving bread. The pre set programmes are also great. It is so much more than a microwave and it looks good too.

chose this in a hurry and didn't do much research.
But have found that the speed in which it heats the simplest things very valuable fast fast fast!
the "Flat & Wide" interior is a dream for us busy housewives. Everything fits inside. It is also a dream to clean
the interior light is very poor ( maybe there is a way to alter it but have not so far found it. You cannot watch the milk heat and save it at the last minute - disappointing.
After cooking there is always condensation on the glass of the interior door - even the next day (if not wiped as you go ) . this worries me as it is bound to cause problems in the future - I am going to discuss this with Panasonic.

Exceeded my expectations
I'm currently using this as my main oven and am truly impressed. It comes with 3 quality trays i.e. glass, enamel and a rack and a huge instruction book (which you need as there are so many combinations of cooking!!) When I set the program to cook me jacket potatoes...via sensor (not telling it how many potatoes or the weight) I didn't believe it was going to produce the perfect jacket p's after 30 minutes.....and it did! Soft and fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside - I literally pricked them on the outside, chucked them in...told the machine I wanted jacket potatoes and it worked out the rest. I'm in awe! On convection oven function it pre-heats super fast as well! No more waiting 20 minutes for the oven to preheat, it's done within about 5....my last tabletop took half an hour so I'm well chuffed.I tested the roast potato function...cut them up and shoved them in raw with a bit of oil and they came out ok considering...hardly suprising not the best (how can they be without fluffing up?!) but more like school roasties - ideal if you're in a hurry or for the kids.I've kept my old microwave...this is more of an oven than a microwave and I can't be bothered to keep removing the trays. Bacon grilled in this is perfect and I've made some great sponge cakes in here. Whilst I was reviewing before purchase, I was put off by a review I read somewhere that it wasn't deep enough for a dinner plate...and when I measured I realised that was true.......but I got caught in the moment whilst in the JL store (they didn't have the alternative I chose) and ended up buying this one - I'm glad I did as my large Jamie Oliver dinner plates fit perfectly so I'm not sure if maybe I was looking at an earlier model?! Anyway, very glad the alternative Panasonic wasn't in stock as this little oven is superb. I'm very VERY pleased.
