Panasonic NN-CS894S Combination Steam Microwave, Stainless Steel

Product information

This feature packed Panasonic microwave oven offers unrivalled flexibility and convenience with combination steam and grill cooking functions, as well as 28 auto-weight programs.

Food is cooked by steam to retain moisture and succulence and can be browned using the grill or convection mode all in one stage. Cooking with steam helps to retain the flavour, texture and colour of food. Not only that, it also offers health benefits as fewer vitamins, minerals and nutrients are lost than with dry-heat cooking. This often means it isn't necessary to add salt or oil.

There are 8 auto steam only programs for you to choose from and 8 auto steam with microwave programs. Select the category and set the weight, the oven will determine the steam level/microwave and cooking time automatically. It also has the added advantage of a steam shot feature. This allows you to add up to 3 minutes of steam during cooking to enhance heat distribution and aid the rising process of breads, cakes and pastries.

With two level convection cooking and a flatbed design, cooking for a large family is made possible. The removal of the turntable and the catalytic lining also means cleaning is stress free – just wipe clean.

Accessories include: Glass dish, steaming trivet, wire shelf, enamel shelf, drip tray.

Please note: For proper operation, the oven must have sufficient air flow i.e. 5cm at one side, the other being open; 15cm clear over the top; 10cm at the rear.

Q & As

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful machine! This is the third Panasonic combination microwave I have owned over the last twenty or so years and I have loved them all, but this one is definitely the best. I like the fact that there is no turntable, making it easier to clean. I like the extra width which enables me to use larger, rectangular dishes. The steam facility is very useful especially when making bread - it helps it to rise. It would benefit from some more lighting inside when cooking but all in all I love it. 23 April 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Panasonic NN-CS894S Comb Microwave Overall a very good item just one thing that troubles me I purchased this item at the beginning of March 2015 .The first time using it i followed the instructions for jacket potatoes from the instruction manual.(actually you cant go wrong when messages appear on the screen) ,manual states to use the wire shelf in a specific position this was adhered to . All OK i pressed start. Jacket potatoes were excellent. The plastic coating on the wire shelf( which according to the manual page 12 should not be removed) had curled up and revealed the metal. I have contacted Panasonic and sent photos, after much discussion and many phone calls (being put on hold) they are looking into this. As the metal is showing I am reluctant to use this wire shelf in Microwave mode therefore I am not using this models full potential John Lewis have been very helpful , but feel strongly that the Panasonic company has to sort this one out I am still waiting to hear from Panasonic to date 10 April 2012 10 April 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Too early to make judgement Bought this last week, agree the interior light is awful, a cook needs to see their food!!shd have had 4 lights. A bit much considering the price of it.being a bloke it's gonna take me ages to work out what to do ! Not keen on the timer slider either , will be back on when I have tried the convection, grill and steamer! It really would be beneficial if shops had places where appliances could be tried out and demo'd. 05 April 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Bad for microwaving I bought this after my Panasonic model NN-CF778S broke down. I had been absoluetely delighted with it and had planned to buy another. But I saw the NN-CS894S which seemed similar but bigger and with a steam overn. After using Panasonic microwave ovens for around 15 years, this is this worst microwave performance I have had - it takes 3 minutes 30 seconds to heat a small mug of cold milk - the previous NN-CF778S took 1 minute 40 seconds (same wattage). The microwave cooking is also very uneven with hot and cold spots. The convection oven also has very uneven heat - things burn at the back before the front is cooked. I do however love the steam oven. It cooks vegetables gently and evenly. But for just a steam oven this is a bit pricey. I would swap this oven for an NN-CF778S if I had the chance. That was brilliant!. 07 February 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Les R Out third Panosonic in about 15 years. We do all our cooking with the Panosonic combination oven and a gas hob. We do not have any other oven. We have had this one for a month now and have just tried using the steam function. Impressed is not the word. We were amazed. We used the steam function to reheat frozen food and it came out as if you had just cooked it from fresh including a frozen cheese sauce. The oven pre heat time is very quick. You do need to change position of your food when using the oven as it does tend to overcook at the back of the oven near to the fan. Brilliant machine. 25 January 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Initially an expensive disappointment. Got this a few days ago.Arrived with wrong product description on delivery note,an unrecognisable product code.Unpacked the item, removed, as one does, what I thought was irrelevant polythene on wire tray. Now discover on page 12 that these bits of plastic are designed to remain on the shelf.'They are not packaging and must not be discarded'.Why page 12, why not headed up on opening instructions. What do I do now? Help! JL please come to my rescue. Tried steaming vegetables, crunchy and hard, better to do them in a pan with a small amount of water, or just microwave in my old model. Auto sensor programmes not as good as my old Panasonic microwave which has an excellent auto sensor for both fresh and frozen veg. I am already regretting this purchase unless JL comes up with some useful info. 23 November 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by best microwave!!! Great Performance. Modern. I could not live without it. You can steam, grill, bake and microwave. Amazing product. 06 October 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by So many options !! Finally made the decision to retire our ageing microwave and get a shiny new Panasonic. I was going to purchase the other Panasonic combination oven however as this one has just been launched and with 5 years warranty decided to splash out. Its a very attractive piece of kit (in a microwave kinda way) although it does need a reasonable amount of space around it - especially above. The loaf we made using a Panasonic breadmaker and then baking it in the new 'oven' combined with steam was amazing. Its worth buying just for that. The surfaces do get quite very hot so you can't put anything on top of it when its running. The sides and rear also get pretty warm so beware. Interior LED lights are more akin to mood lighting than illumination although light from the grill does help - more LED lights please Panasonic. There are so many combinations, it'll be interesting working through them. Great product, recommended. p.s. super fast delivery via Click & Collect although it comes in a very large box so it was a bit of a squeeze. 30 June 2014
