Panasonic NN-CT579SBPQ Slimline Combination Microwave, Stainless Steel
John Lewis was amazing - the best shop in the world for service. They matched the price within 2 hours and delivered next day to a Waitrose - amazing (and that was on a Sunday). I don't know if it was a fault or the inverter technology which is a more efficient way of heating (used in Japan for decades), but the microwave light flickered and it buzzed. After speaking to a very helpful JL technology dept staff member, I was told me inverter's need some time to "run" through before settling. However, having heard me mention the light occurrence they suggested it be replaced for extra reassurance. JL were excellent. They arranged a courier service on the same day free of charge so I was never without a microwave.
Personally, while I spend £ on brands for build quality and features, and I hope they last, I don't believe many products do compared to say 10 years ago because parts are sourced and fitted from around the world e.g. Apple Mac died with "blue screen of death" after 1 week; Miele vacuum cleaner motor died after 6 months; and my Panasonic camcorder has broken twice in three years! Nonetheless, we plough on... Those facts not withstanding I brought this after much research and it is all working fine now!
1000w (ensures quick warm times)
Stainless steel facia inside, ensures longevity
Brush effect means easier to clean then shiny sliver.
Warms very very quick (if food is not covered) and baked potatoes are good (never as great as oven though).
Cons (which are not major):
The buzzer sounds for a few seconds!
LED display is poor unless the microwave is positioned at eye level.
No quick dial or buttons to select timings e.g. 1, 2, 5 minute programme.
Overall, I don't use microwaves to cook meat but I did use the oven to cook a ready meal and the combination (microwave and grill) function which was pretty good. John Lewis - well as I said at the start and I will say again - the store with the best values, staff, choice and business model in the world!

I bought the earlier one of this model NNA775S, 8 years ago and although it lasted much longer than some of the other reviewers ones did it did the same thing and just died on me before Christmas 2013. No one can mend anything these days either unless its under guarantee so I will not buy this expensive version again. I bought it originally because it was recommended by "Which".

Very good combo microwave
I cannot fault this Panasonic microwave combo.
I use all the functions, which are easy to understand and use
If you want a new microwave I would very much recommend this one

Good while it lasts!
Went for this model as its more compact than other combination ovens. For 18 months it was great but one day it just died. Would have given it 4 stars but for the money would have expected better so only 2 stars. I see other comments below about this model suddenly dying. RIP :(

Third time lucky.....?
The first two we bought did not work - the first stopped after a minute on any programme, the second after a few seconds, I see a few other reviewers had the same issue. As our last Panasonic lasted many years, we decided to keep trying and John Lewis did replace quickly without a query so we are now on the third which seems OK so far, nice large turntable despite compact size.

Good capacity and easy to operate for the price. Happy we bought this rather than the more expensive model

Satisfied so far
A bit on the large side. If this is the 'slimline' version I hate to think how big the full size one is!
Only other downside is I preferred the touch controls on my old microwave. If you're microwaving something for, let's say, 3 minutes 50 seconds, it's much easier to tap '3' '5' '0' than press the '1 minute' button 3 times then the '10 seconds' button 5 times!
But other than that it's fine. It looks good, maybe even professional (if professionals use microwaves!) and heats up food quickly.

I bought this microwave to replace an identical one which broke down, just outside the guarantee period! It is the most used piece of equipment in my kitchen, apart from the kettle! I chose the same one because I had been very happy with this model. Everything seems exactly the same except the fan is a lot noisier! However the grill is a lot better and on the whole I am pleased with it.
