Dublin born Paul Costelloe is one of the most established names in British fashion. In the late 1960s, Paul travelled to Paris where he enrolled at the Chamber Syndicate, the French equivalent of the British Fashion Council. Typically dismissive of this formal training, Paul says he learnt most about fashion, simply by living in Paris in the era of Ungaro and Cardin. By 1969 he was design assistant to Jacques Esterel.
Two years later, Paul became a designer with La Renescente, whose previous designers had included Giorgio Armani.
He added New York and Philadelphia to his CV before creating his own label and moving back to Ireland in 1979. The brand has since been invited to open London Fashion Week 7 seasons in a row, an honour and a challenge which Paul always cherishes.
The brand’s Men’s and Ladies collections are now designed from Central London, where Paul now resides with his wife and children.
