Rated 4 out of 5 by billyboo I think I like it
I am not sure what colour hair I have on the back of my head but it is darker than my previously natural light brown. But I do know that the front is silver. I thought I'd try this shampoo and have used it a few washes running. It is nice to use, only needing a small amount to bubble well on my short hair. I'm not sure that it makes much difference to the colour of my hair but it shades well and I like the feel of my hair when I have used it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jane1959 Works for me
I have read mixed reviews of this product but it works for me. My hair has more white than black and I think that this shampoo and the conditioner from the same range have made a difference to brightness. The smell is lovely and it doesn't stain the tile grout unlike at least one other higher end product for grey hair. Yes it is expensive but why not treat your hair as well as your face?

I have silvery grey hair and have used other products specifically made for such hair. This product made my hair a dull grey - no shine at all. My hair was also very static and fly-away, not a problem I have ever had before. I used it with the recommended conditioner. All round, a very expensive mistake. John Lewis - please will you consider stocking the White Hot range? It is fantastic and much cheaper.

I thought this shampoo was going to add a blue/purple colour but it does not. But it does make grey hair more silvery and brighter - so altogether very good

Rated 1 out of 5 by Londonlas This does not work on my grey(ing) hair.
I am a huge fan of Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer (it's no wonder it has won so many beauty awards) and so am doubly disappointed to report that this shampoo - and conditioner - really does not do what it says on the bottle for me, someone with normal/dry hair with 50%+ white in what was dark brown. The "violet hues an optical brighteners to add shine to dull, discoloured grey" hair do not work on mine at all. I gave this shampoo and conditioner the benefit of doubt and have used for several months now but they appear to have no effect at all on the appearance of my hair.
In themselves, both the shampoo and conditioner are good to use - small nice & feel soft on using - but are an expensive way of not achieving what is expected from the description on the bottle and from such an otherwise well regarded brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lore The product that did the job!
I have been using the silver shampoo for over a year and I am very pleased. I went white few years ago and luckily my hair is bright silver and smooth, however when I am in the sun it tents to go a bit yellowish. I have tried several shampoos and this is the only one that helps. I try to use only natural products and I am aware that this is not...quite so I use it twice a months only but it is enough to keep the silver shine.

I'm so disappointed in this product.
Upon reading rave reviews I blindly went in search of the PK Elasticizer - only to find that the product is best used with Philip Kingsley Shampoo and Conditioner.
I sprung for the Pure Silver Shampoo and Conditioner and merrily set about washing my hair.
At the bare minimum I expected the activity to end in clean hair. I've washed it twice, on consecutive days but my normally dry roots are remain thickly greasy, as if I had a heavy rubbing session with a tub of wax.
I started to wonder if, overnight, I'd suddenly forgotten how to properly wash my hair*
My bank account feels clean. My hair did not.
*no- I've just given it another go with a high street brand and I've still got it.
