Product information

Ultra slim looks and Full HD playback meet a range of smart functions in the Philips PFL4258 TV. Integrated Wi-Fi makes getting connected straightforward, while easy DLNA streaming lets you enjoy content stored on smartphones and computers over your home network. It also renders onscreen action at Philips’ 200Hz PMR standard for smoother viewing.

Key benefits:

  • Make the most of smart TV. Rent and stream movies, videos, games and more from online video stores. Watch catch-up TV from your favourite channels and enjoy a rich selection of online apps and games.

  • Catch up with friends and family via Skype. Just plug the optional Philips TV camera (PTA317) into your TV and enjoy excellent video and sound quality from the comfort of your armchair.

  • Share photos, music, videos and films through DLNA using a smartphone, tablet or computer and enjoy them on the big screen.

  • For picture movement that looks precise, Philips 200Hz PMR tweaks a combination of video processing, number of frames per second and refresh rate for smoother playback.

  • With two USB slots you can keep a hard drive or USB stick connected for recording and pausing live TV. The extra USB port also means that connecting a Skype camera or accessing any jpeg photos, mp3s or videos stored on your storage devices will never interfere with your recording.

  • Get more from your TV with the MyRemote app. Transform your tablet or smart phone into a universal remote with all the options of your original remote plus extra features like typing. Stay up to date by recording your favorite programs on-the-go using MyRemote recording. Simply flip through the content on the TV Program Guide to choose which shows to record and view later.

Sound Bars

With TVs getting slimmer and built-in speakers getting smaller - choosing the right sound system is more important than ever. Sound bars add that extra audio punch to all your movies, games and TV programmes. More affordable and easier to set up than a full size speaker system, they don’t compromise on quality either.

Q & As

Philips 32PFL4258T LED HD 1080p Smart TV, 32" with Freeview HD 2.8 5 5 5
Great picture, terrible navigation This unit has a great picture and has the functionality to record, pause and rewind live TV if you can get to accept your USB device. Already tried a 32GB USB (pause only) stick and a 250GB (full record etc) HD to no avail. The programming guide is terrible and not user friendly, unless I'm missing something. You can only scroll down one channel at a time and each program doesn't show the full name. The remote also doesn't follow popular layouts or controls as seen on many other brands and is incredibly slow at responding. If you can live with the remote and programming guide then you won't be disappointed. I'm currently deciding whether I can. 08 April 2014
Poor motion handling, especially in dark scenes I ordered this set without seeing it in person, on the back of the 5-star review in the press (linked from the product page), and the very good price from John Lewis. In favourable conditions, the picture quality is OK - even backlight, good colours. But in a dark scene with a few highlights, especially on faces, something goes wrong. It looks like the ghosting that early LCD sets suffered, where parts of the image didn't catch up with others. The effect is that areas of the picture appear distorted. They wobble, making it hard to focus and uncomfortable to watch. I went through every setting, alone and in combination, trying to find the magic configuration that would justify the 5-star rating. But I couldn't find it, and so it's gone back to the shop. 01 April 2014
Very satisfied! Connected this tv up this weekend and would recommend it very highly. Its connected to my Sky box and the picture are so much brighter and clearer than my old tv even though that was Full HD too. It was easy to setup and install and the Kids love the YouTube App. 02 December 2013
Great all rounder Purchased this tv over the bank holiday and think it is a great TV. It has very good image quality, sound is impressive for such a thin tv and it even has built in wireless. Happy to recommend this tv to others as it has everything you need, smart, wifi, freeview HD. 30 August 2013
very disapointed after reading a review for this product I decided to purchase I can only assume I had a rogue set as the review for this was glowing in the magazine I read. The picture was dreadful both freeview and on digital cable I am technically minded and no matter how much tinkering I did in the settings the picture remained awful full of blur and artefacts, the menu system is clunky and irritating. very dissapointed as I had high expectations for this tv. 25 August 2013
