Philips GC3593/02 EasyCare Steam Iron 4.4 5 25 25
Best iron ever used Easy touse, gets into all the corners, and even irons vertically! A great product, the only minor downside being a tad on the heavy side 30 July 2014
Phillips Easy Care Steam Iron This iron received a good review from Which and it certainly does everything the review mentioned. It is particularly good at ironing out creases. The only negative point is that the temperature control dial is marked in red, is situated right under the handle and I find it difficult to see which setting it is on. It is very good value for the price. 11 July 2014
Good iron I was planning to purchase a different Philips iron, but it was not in stock. The Philips GC3593/02 was also a Which Best Buy and was a similar price, so I decided to order. Very good ironing ability. I have given 4 stars because, similar to other reviewers, I find the dial very difficult to read. However, once one is familiar with the settings on the dial, it is possible to adjust without having to read the dial. 09 July 2014
Good iron I bought this iron because it is a Which? best buy. It is quite heavy, but is really effective in steam and glides easily. The only problem I found is that there is not much clearance between the handle and the settings dial, which I found difficult to read. 08 July 2014
Very satisfactory iron Lives up to recommendation in WHICH magazine. Lightweight, easy to use and gives good results. Only fault is dial indicating heat setting difficult to see as lettering is red on black background. 08 July 2014
So that's how a steam iron should be! The GC3593 is certainly worthy of it's "Best Buy" award and I'm so pleased I went for it. It works far, far better than my previous iron, a steam generator costing 2-3 times as much. The best surprises with this have been: * how quiet it is (it hisses a bit but no noisy vibrating and rumbling you get with some steam irons); * how much steam you get in use, but not so much your laundry gets soaked; * how smooth it is, so even when the water tank is full, it is very manoeuvrable. I can see what people mean when they say the red markings on the black dial are hard to read. However, personally I don't rely on looking at the markings all the time when ironing and with a little use, you should soon get used to where the dial needs to be without constantly peering at it. I live in an area of quite hard water and had questions so called customer service who were really obliging. The answers are probably the same for all steam irons but I don't have much experience so in case you wondered: * It says to use tap water but if you are in a hard water area, you are advised to use distilled water, or water that's been through a filter. * You are supposed to do a 'calc clean' every two weeks - this is regardless of whether you are ironing nearly every day or have only ironed once, apparently. You may not need to do it quite so often if you are not using hard tap water and also if you empty the tank before storing the iron. Don't worry, the process is easy enough and doesn't take long. I wouldn't go as far as to say ironing is now something I look forward to but this iron has certainly made it less of a chore and bordering on enjoyable! 5 stars from me. 08 July 2014
Excellent iron This iron is a pleasure to use. I purchased this iron after reading previous reviews as I did not know which make or model to buy. It is well made and has a few good features i.e. it switches itself off if accidentally left on, has a no tangle flex, easy fill, nice soleplate and colour makes a change from greens, blues and pinks. I would recommend this iron to others as it has cut my ironing time in half and is brilliant for ironing cotton bed linen. 07 June 2014
GREAT IRON BUT VERY DIFFICULT TO READ THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL This iron is beautifully weighted, gives plenty of steam and can be filled with tap water - so much cheaper than buying distilled water. However, it is quite difficult to see the level of water in the tank and, an even bigger drawback is that it is very very difficult to read the markings on the temperature control as they are written in very small type in red on a black background and as with all irons the temperature control wheel is tucked under the handle. I bought this iron online in a hurry as my other iron had broken. if I had had a chance to see this iron in the shop I doubt if I would have bought it, simply because of the red on black printing. White on black or red on white would have been so much better. 20 May 2014
