Ironing your laundry will be a quicker job than ever: ready to use in just 2 minutes, the GC8620/02 has up to 5 bars of steam pressure for fast ironing. Revolutionary OptimalTemp technology always delivers the perfect combination of steam and temperature regardless of the garment material, so you can iron silk pyjamas after a cotton shirt without adjusting the settings.

A SteamGlide non-stick ceramic soleplate has a unique steam tip, so even the smallest or most difficult areas will soon look well pressed. You can use the GC8620/02 vertically as well, for ironing your curtains or even to iron clothes while they are still on the hanger.

Despite the incredible level of care offered by the Philips PerfectCare iron, it is still completely effective on even the toughest fabrics, thanks to a powerful continuous steam output of 120g/min, and a fantastic 180g/min boost. You can iron for up to 2 hours without the need to refill with the large 2.2 litre water tank; and as this tank is removable, refilling is easy.

Best Iron Ever! I cannot recommend this iron highly enough! Suffering from a bad back & being a lifelong hater of ironing I bought this after being guided towards the steam-generator 'genre'. This iron is a joy to use & makes short work of your ironing pile. If you are hesitant - don't be! Its worth every penny!! 28 January 2013

Promises much, but doesn't deliver I purchased this iron because I rate Phillips as a brand and I thought that 5MB of steam pressure would be ample. A lot of thought has clearly gone into the design, but it has two serious flaws. Firstly even if I clean the descaler screw as per instructions I regularly get lots of calcium deposits coming out and staining my clothes (I think this comes from steam left in the pipe that cools down after the iron is switched off) The other big issue is that it does not provide a continuous supply of steam as claimed in the product description. Every few minutes I have to wait while the steam generator catches up with me. This is really frustrating over a two hour period. 02 December 2012

speedy ironing Iron itself is fairly light . Takes a little getting used to as it isn't possible to stand on it's heel end. This is fine though as it is designed to sit face down and doesn't scorch. Task of ironing is quicker due to being able to pick up any item and iron it without having to sort into different fabrics as there is no temperature gauge and I have done all types of fabrics with no disasters so no need to be nervous. Also, large reservoir in steam generator means I can do a large ironing with no refills - much better than my last model. It also leaves only very small wet patches on the floor around the ironing area whereas my last one caused lots! Haven't had to de-scale yet but looks simple enough. Only criticism is that there is no lock which would have made carrying a bit easier and safer so four and three quarter stars really. 14 November 2012

Love, love, love! A fantastic steam generator iron. Had been recommended to buy it by two sets of cleaners who have used at others' homes, so I had high expectations. It makes ironing quick and is very effective removing stubborn creases in bedding and the like. Adjusts according to the fabric being used, so you can iron a silk blouse straight after a pair of jeans with no waiting for heat to balance. A fab piece of kit, well worth the expense. 13 November 2012

Supersteam I love this product, makes ironing a wizz. The large capacity water tank is great which means you can iron at least 30-40 items before needing to re-fill the tank !. I especially like the fabric sensor which means you can switch from jeans to a silk top instantly. The only downside is that it does make your ironing board cover damp. This is the third steam generator iron I have used over the years and I have found they all make the board damp but it has never put me off buying another. Overall a brilliant product and well worth the money. 05 October 2012

Makes ironing a pleasure! Very impressed with this iron, my first Steam Generator Iron and very much worth the money over a regular steam iron. It's got the Philips PerfectCare system, so no need to worry about setting different temperatures for different fabrics, it just works. It glides effortlessly, removes creases with ease and puts them in with razor sharp edges if required. So good, I actually enjoy ironing now. 30 September 2012
