Pure Move 2500 DAB/FM Personal Stereo Radio, Black

Product information

The Pure Move 2500 compact and light personal DAB digital and FM radio is ideal if you love listening to the radio on the move. Its sound is fantastic too thanks to its in-ear, noise-isolating headphones and separate bass and treble controls. That’s not all though. With its sleek aluminium fascia, mirror finish casing and recessed controls it might seem a shame to hide Move 2500 in your pocket.

Perfect for your commute or a trip to the gym, it’ll also be an ideal travel companion too - thanks to its multi-standard digital tuner picking up local digital stations wherever you go.

The supplied rechargeable ChargePAK M1 battery provides up to 15 hours listening per charge and can be recharged using the supplied mains adapter or from the USB port on a PC or Mac.

Q & As

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Backward Step I had a 1500 model for several years before purchasing this one. In my opinion, this model is not as good as its predecessor. By comparison, its battery life is poor, reception no better and the controls not as intuitive or as easy to operate, being very fiddly. After recharging the radio it often turns itself on and you need to be vigilant that you turn it off if you do not intend to use the radio. Pure has gone for a more modern look rather an improved product. 26 February 2015

Rated 4 out of 5 by Room for improvement I am an avid listener to speech radio and own a number of Pure products which are generally very good. I bought the Pure Move 2500 specifically to listen in bed where I always use headphones anyway. The sound quality is excellent and I have had no problems with reception – the headphone wires serve as the aerial. The volume control can be set very precisely so that you don't need headphones with a variable setting to achieve exactly what you need. The radio is small, but I was surprised how heavy it feels. There are one or two things which could be improved however. The rechargeable ChargePAK promises 'up to 14 hours listening'. When I bought mine a few weeks back 15 hours was promised. My experience is that it actually lasts only about 9 hours when set to a very low volume. The ChargePAK also loses charge when the radio is unused for even a day or two. Set up is straightforward, but the controls are so sensitive that use of the keylock is essential. Unfortunately the slider which performs this function is feeble and wobbly so that it is not easy to tell whether it is actually on or off without looking at the screen display, and I wonder how long it will last. I also bought a Pure Move 400D portable radio at the same time for use in the bathroom. Unless you specifically need a very small radio, I think that for around £10 more the 400D is a better bet. The 60 hours ChargePAK life indicated is pretty much what you get, the construction is very robust, the controls are easier to use and the keylock design is much better. There is the option of listening via headphones or the speaker which is more than adequate for speech and tolerable for music. 22 October 2014

Rated 4 out of 5 by Good product but care is needed The instructions were slightly baffling as they showed how to install the charge-pak but mine was already installed. As there was no protective film over the display screen I did wonder if I had been sold a returned item. Care has to be taken with the highly sensitive dial. Having read the instructions I switched on ready to choose my language and, before I knew it, it had selected French and was evidently "reglage des stations de radio". The manual did provide for how to reset to the factory default but I had to go on line and look up what this was in French "réinitialisation d'usine par défaut " in order to select and start again!! Once I had set it up in English I found the sound quality to be as excellent as other customers stated and like the neatness of it. Having two other Pure DAB radios in the house I know their products are of quality and recommend this one - provided you're extra careful with that sensitive dial. 27 April 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Not quite perfect I have had this radio for a month now and whilst I am very glad I purchased the radio it is not quite perfect. I wanted a portable radio I could travel with and use in the car. When travelling it has good battery life and is pleasant to listen to, with a good sound through the supplied earphones. I have used 3 different earphones and they all sound great. I use the radio in my car playing through the AUX channel via 3.5mm cable and this also works very well. However the only drawback is that the DAB signal is still too weak to be perfect. The signal is mostly OK on motorways and in towns but is still quite weak in many areas. I can only use in on the train when near London or other major cities. I don't think it is the radio but not 100% sure. I do lose signal, even on the BBC stations, frequently. Hopefully this will improve over time but it is a bit of a pain. 14 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Ever DAB for poor reception areas I bought this radio as my last ditch attempt to find one that works in rural Norfolk. I have had 2 others, both of which claimed to be suitable for all areas and both proved useless. I predominantly listen to Radio 4 and 4 extra as well as Planet Rock. This radio is absolutely brilliant, it works wherever I go. I've had it zipped up in a pocket whilst working under the car and the reception is perfect. The battery life is fine and it's easy to use. The only negative is that the rear panel is not very robust but, that said, it is fit for purpose. The reception and sound quality are excellent. I can't recommend it enough. 15 January 2014
