Tao is an ancient Chinese philosophy based on harmony and union. The symbol of Yin and Yang is widely known. Two contrasting yet complementary forces: day and night, male and female, hard and soft, action and non action.
In our 21st century lives, we are bombarded with more stimuli than ever before. This profusion of stimuli, Yang, creates an imbalance, which leads to stress. By performing our grooming rituals attentively and with true focus, we direct our attention inwards, thus bringing peace to Yin, our spirit. Tao (literally 'the way') thus guides us towards deep relaxation.
In the sixth century BC, Lao Tze (now written in China as Laozi) wrote the Book of the Way and Virtue, or Tao Te Ching. This work is the basis of Taoism. This book and its many translations contain a great deal of ancient yet still contemporary Chinese wisdom. One of the most cited quotes is: 'even a journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step.' This inspired Rituals in the development of Lao Tze: a rich, silkysoft cream to intensively care for and soften your feet. The combination of refreshing Chinese Mint and nourishing Yi Yi Ren make Lao Tze a special treat for the feet. And if you look after your feet properly, you will feel the benefits in your whole body.
