Q & As

ROBERTS Classic DAB2 Digital Radio 3.4 5 7 7
Very happy The radio programmed itself to the DAB stations, for the price point, quality and sound I'm very happy with my purchase. I can't comment on battery life, but will probably purchase re-chargeable ones as its used in a location without a mains socket and is a must. 30 November 2014
Good value excellent performance radio Very pleased with my purchase of a Roberts digital radio which performs well and consistently even where reception for other digital radios is not always good. 18 November 2014
Counter-intuitive I normally love Roberts radio and won't have any other brand in my house, but I'm disappointed with this model. It's really hard to tune and totally counter-intuitive. I had to read the instruction book thoroughly before I could work out how to get Radio 4, and every single person who has reached to turn it down has accidentally retuned it (and it's not easy to then re-find the station you want) because the big knob on the right, which intuitively should be the volume control, is the re-tuner. The knobs and buttons are so badly designed. I really wish I'd spent a bit extra and gone for a different model. 18 October 2014
Love it! Are the other reviewers talking about the same radio? The knob on top does do the volume, the sound is fine for a tiny radio and it is totally portable. We love it. I thought DAB radios were expensive, not any more. Welcome back to the good old tranny radio. 08 April 2014
Impractical Radio I bought a Roberts radio after good experiences in the past with this brand of portables, however this radio goes through batteries at an astonishing rate. It is impractical to use in the bathroom or garden. I already have mains radios for use elsewhere in the house. Very disappointed. 05 February 2014
Wish I hadn't bought it This radio eats batteries. It has cost me a fortune(I take it in the bathroom so can't use the mains). My presets disappeared while I was on holiday without the instruction book and it was very difficult to reset. Now the batteries won't stay in place without pressure on one side so I can't use it at all. It's going back! 27 November 2013
So nearly good! I thought this really looked good - until I started using it. I like to listen to the World Service at night. A nice big knob on the right - I'll be able to fine-tune the volume. No - it's for station selection. The volume is two tiny buttons beside the on-off switch!!! Why does anybody need an enormous knob for station selection?? My wife likes me to turn off lights when we go to sleep - but although you can dim the display, you can' t turn it off. A little lanyard is fixed on the left. So you can swing it from your wrist? I think not. A simple handle going from left to right would have been more useful. It worked alright. But the ergnomics are poor. 25 November 2013
