Q & As

ROBERTS R9954 Radio 4.9 5 27 27
Fantastic Sound Excellent radio, wonderful crystal clear reception. Stands up to the rigours of my south facing bathroom and fully portable so will be able to use it in the garden when the season starts. This is the modern day equivalent of my old Roberts Rambler which I bought from John Lewis in 1978 and which finally packed up 5 years ago. In the meantime I have tried portable DAB radios none of which was suitable for bathroom use. The Roberts Gemini 7 is an excellent DAB radio but did not last long on battery power so is now used in the kitchen on mains power. The Roberts RD-60 Revival was the best with excellent performance on batteries but after 4 years in the bathroom the red leatherette was badly faded and peeling. Roberts to their credit replaced it when I sent it for refurbishment and I now use it elsewhere in the house. The Pure One Mi Series 2 was useless and after 5 months became a fire hazard as the charger became dangerously hot - John Lewis gave me a refund and I then bought this analogue radio which I wish I had bought in the first place. I very much like DAB radios but nothing is as good as this Roberts portable analogue radio for use in a south facing bathroom. Just to repeat - the sound reproduction is fantastic. 21 January 2015
Perfect portable Delighted with this radio. Perfect for use in our summer house. Easy tuning, good reception and sound quality for a small radio. Excellent value for money. 09 August 2014
Easy to use radio Purchased for elderly mother. Really easy to use especially the markers to denote where favourite stations are. Good product. 29 July 2014
Good in expensive radio Good sound ,easy to set up and tunes well, ok a bit plastic looking ,but have used everyday since I got it, so it does exactly what I wanted 15 July 2014
Delighted with this purchase I have just replaced a ridiculously expensive digital and internet-enabled kitchen radio with this lovely bit of kit. The reason was that I needed a tone control (no longer in the first flush of youth, the old hearing's not what it was, you know#. I'm delighted with this old-school radio. Actually, it's not a radio: It's a wireless. No fiddly buttons, drop-down menus, no swish and swipe. This thing's got real knobs #including a tone one) and a good, old fashioned pointer that moves along the tuning window. Almost expected to see Hilversum, Luxembourg and the Home Service in there. And, at last, I can both hear and understand everything John Humphrys says. There's plenty volume for a reasonably-sized kitchen and the controls are convenient and, above all, usable! Don't put up with all this modern rubbish. Get yourself one of these wirelesses. Bring back the radiogram! That's what I say. 03 July 2014
Perfect for what I wanted Easy to tune, pretty good sound quality, small enough to fit where I keep it. Suits me down to the ground! 18 June 2014
Top Quality My father-in-law is a traditional man and likes to do things the good old fashion way. This radio is just that, but also sounds and looks great too. It is very sturdy and made to a very good standard. 18 January 2014
Super Radio Bought as a present, mainly for use whilst gardening, this radio has lived up to expectations and performed well. 27 December 2013
