Founded by Alan O'Rourke and Neil Adams, Ruark Audio's origins lie in a desire to build the very best compact audio products.
A skilled engineer and lifelong music enthusiast, Alan has been working within the British audio industry for over 30 years.
In 1985 together with his father Brian (a master furniture maker), they formed Ruark Acoustics with the intention to develop and manufacture high fidelity loudspeaker systems. Amongst audio enthusiasts worldwide, Ruark loudspeakers have become prized for their design and sound quality, winning numerous accolades and awards.
Late in 2004 with the growing popularity of DAB, Alan was looking for a radio for his own use. It appeared to him that whilst sound quality was important for hi-fi systems, in radios and other small audio devices this vital issue was often overlooked!
Seeing a niche in the market and based on their wholehearted belief that they could bring their high fidelity knowledge to compact audio products, Alan and Neil formed Ruark Audio as a division of Ruark.
Despite only launching in November 2006, Ruark Audio is already being regarded as one of the best small audio brands available. The Sunday Telegraph described their first generation R1 as "the Aston Martin of DAB radios"! This sentiment succinctly describes Ruark Audio's philosophy.
Ruark Audio have three objectives in their endeavor to design products that they believe you will love to use and cherish.
