Q & As

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Waste of money Followed instructions and the rice was terrible, could be the type of rice used but won't be using this product again. 26 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent product I have had this rice cooker for about 5 months and I use it at least twice a week. It's fantastic and meets my needs. I have had to customise it as follows: The type of rice matters: For my choice of rice, I've had to double the quantity of water. I use the ratio of 2 cups of water to 1 cup of rice. (by trial & error) The keep warm function: I found this keeps the plate warm and dries out the base of the rice, which I hate. To avoid this I check the rice with a spatula and turn the cooker off from the mains when the water is almost dried out. This ensures by the time the plate cools down, the base of the pot remains edible. Conclusion: This cooker may not be suitable for turning on in the morning and hoping to have a completely edible warm rice in the evening. It's best to turn off from mains immediately after cooking except if you like caked up rice. This is definitely on my Christmas gift list. 14 December 2015

Rated 1 out of 5 by Did not even power on Dead on arrival - plugged it in - nothing happens - will be returning it 13 October 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Easy quick way to cook Overall a good buy, only issue is the amount of rice you need to cook, no point in using it for just a couple of portions, the booklet mentions "Sometimes the layer of rice in contact with the bowl will form a crust...Some people regard the crust as a treat". Not my family so we cook plenty and often waste the crusty bit, more of a glaze than crust, not attractive nor good to eat 07 July 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Saves cooking time The steamer is very helpful. Vegetables cook very quickly and it is my belief that the steaming may prevent loss of vitamins from the vegetables. 28 January 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Good price but not the best quality I had to buy a repalcement rice cooker which I had for 5 years. As my previous one was also Russell Hobbs I thought I buy the same brand again. Unfortunately this one is not that good as my old one. When the rice is cooked and after it changes to 'Warm' I have turn the main switch off immediately otherwise If the warm swith is left on even for few minutes, the rice is burnt and sticks to the bottom. Also when you add the same amout of water as same amount rice e.g 2 cups of rice= 2 cups of water etc, I found the rice became too soft, so I had to reduce 1/2 a cup of water. I'm actually thinking of getting a refund as I've only had it for only 2 weeks!! Read other reviews and people haven't had any problems. I suppose it's just pot luck really. 25 January 2015
