Q & As

Rated 3 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellant scales I was persuaded by my husband we needed new scales and reluctantly chose these - but they are fantastic. Good clear display and 100% accurate - love them. Would definitely recommend. 17 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Super accurate! Light weight and nice looking I bought it as the replacement of another salter scale who served well in the last couples of years. This one is more slim, much lighter and with blue display windows. I have to say many other scales either get big display window but not good designed (I mean looking) or very small digits which can be a problem when my parents want to use it. This one is really easy to read and is slim enough so it can put in the gap between wall and other furniture. I measured luggages and parcels, the variances are as small as within 50grams which most other scale can not achieve at all. After all very happy with the purchase. Even it is slightly expensive comparing to some cheaper scales but definitely worth every penny. 04 February 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Really not fit for purpose As other negative writers have noted the scales can vary by several Kilos making it impossible to know what you actually weigh. I should have sent it back for a refund but as I live in the middle of nowhere it would have cost me a considerable amount in fuel. I have just bought the Salter academy scales which have excellent reviews. Do NOT waste your money on these. I am surprised trading standards have not intervened! 04 January 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not fit for purpose As stated by others below, these scales are not fit for purpose. On an even floor the readings vary by up to 5ibs and if you move them around it can vary further. 18 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by East to Use Neat slim scales with lovely easy to read display. 17 June 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Stylish and useful These stylish Glass and Chrome scales look great in our bathroom. The display is very clear and can be set for Imperial or Metric. We prefer good old stones and pounds! 14 May 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not fit for purpose Regardless of 'accuracy' these scales don't provide any measure of what you weigh. Each time you step on them, they give a different reading - a sort of random number generator. This is without moving them, so nothing to do with the floor. Stepping on and off three times in a row gives three different readings, with my weight fluctuating by 4 kgs. Perhaps I need to write down each reading and calculate an average. Very unhelpful when trying to assess if my diet is working as these scales can not be trusted to tell you anything useful: one day I lost 2 kgs, the next I had gained 6 kgs. Totally random. And when it comes to weighing bags for the airport, these scales definitely can't be trusted. Was interested to read the other reviews, which confirms that it isn't me who doesn't know how to use them (as a scientist, I was sure that I hadn't missed something), it is the product which is RUBBISH. I'm off to put them in the bin. 10 May 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by definitely not ultimate accuracy As we were using the scales on carpet we put the carpet feet on the scale. The scales were never accurate (sometimes to 5 or more pounds up and down). Tested the scales in different area of carpet - always a different reading even 5 minutes later. Then tried the scales on tiles (without the carpet feet) same problem. Tested the scales out on several people - all had same problem. After a couple of weeks took the scales back to John Lewis and changed them ( without any problem) for a different scale. 09 April 2014
