Very odd failure mode... twice John Lewis service was exemplary. Microwave arrived as per ordering process. Set it up and used. Strange smell though. Did I burn some food? Wipe out and try again having ventilated the kitchen. Nope, acrid smell again - coming from vents on left hand side. John Lewis agreed a return and replacement (same model). Microwave arrived at the appointed time. Set it up and used. Strange smell again. Operated for a bit longer to convince myself I wasn't going potty, and smell intensified. Acrid smell coming from vents on left hand side. Of course will return to John Lewis. Am losing faith in this model so will try a different one but seems a bit of a lottery when you read the reviews on other makes and models. 14 March 2013

Poor quality I bought this microwave after reading the recommendation in Good Housekeeping magazine but it hasn't lived up its reputation. It worked ok for a couple of weeks but then it started to be really noisy when on standby. After a month or so, I couldn't stand the noise in the kitchen anymore and, after a bit of persuasion, John Lewis agreed to replace it for me. Just opened the new one and the top of the casing is considerably marked. Will be requesting a refund this time! 10 February 2013

Impressed Very neat very stylish microwave. Over recent years I have come to be a Samsung fan whether its a laptop, telly or now microwave. It does what it says on the tin - quiet as far as I am concerned and easy to clean. One minor silly grip. On granite worktop when you open the door the microwave "moves" so you need both hands one to open the door and one to gently stop it moving. I tried putting a towel under it but its still moving, I guess it alot lighter than the old one we had. Anyway as I said a minor niggle. Overall excellent. 30 November 2012

State of the art! The prvious microwave was some 15+ years old and had given good service (different maufacturer The staff at Chichester were extremely helpful and I now have a21st cvenyury appliance. It has mre features than I require - but in that it is not alone today Thanks 09 November 2012

Simple and Efficient! Bought this microwave as it was a Good Housekeeping best buy/recommended product. It is easy to use with just a quick glance through the instruction book. It cooks everything perfectly and I like the steam facility. My only negative comment would be that it could do with sitting on a non-slip mat as it tends to slide a bit across the work surface when opening the door. However, that's only a minor criticism. If you want a simple microwave without loads of grill/combination cooking options (which I never used anyway on previous microwaves) this is perfect. Does what it says on the box! 05 November 2012

Does what it says on the tin Easy to use, powerful and functional. This microwave is slightly larger than my old unit, but I knew that when I bought it. It's been a great additionn to my kitchen. 30 August 2012

Very dissapointing We had two of these. The first arrived damaged despite the packaging being in perfect confition, the second was undamaged but faulty. The buttons were almost impossible to get any response from without pressing very hard. Even without the fault though, this is a very difficult microwave to use and very loud in operation. It is also very flimsy feeling in the flesh. In the end we trade up to the Panasonic for an extra £20. Night and day in terms of ease, quality noise. 14 May 2012
