Samsung VC21F50HDDR Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner, Vitality Red
Its a good product. its either too powerful at high power settings or low power at other settings. At full power suction is so high that its difficult to even move the cleaner on the floor. Its very handy and easy to use. Light weight compared to others, dust filters can be completely washed etc

My last vacuum cleaner motor went bang after 6 years and the costs of repairing it were only a little less than the price of buying this model new, so I opted for a change instead, based on favourable reviews here and elsewhere. Overall I wish I’d not bothered as there are just too many things that annoy me about it.
Pros: great suction, very manoeuvrable, excellent turbo head attachment for doing the stairs, super effective lead retraction mechansim
Cons: chunky main brush head which doesn’t fit under a lot of the furniture and you have to adjust manually for the floor surface (unlike the deceased Dyson on both counts). I have rugs on wooden floors and on full suction this pulls them around the floor so cleaning then turns into a wrestling match. Reducing the suction stops the problem but then the pull for the machine is not enough to actually lift the bits off the rug. There are battery-operated +/- suction controls at the hose top where it is attached to the brush, instead of a simpler manual adjustment. The on/off button as part of this assembly is easy to knock - it would have been simpler to only have the manual on/off button on the body instead.
I end up with a sore back every time I use it (from constantly prising it off the floors), but maybe if I had carpets throughout it would be less of a workout?

I saw this demonstrated in a local megastore and as with all demonstrations was impressed, but was out of stock. I searched the internet and although it was advertised at a ridiculously low price compared to everywhere else, it was also out of stock at John Lewis. I clicked the option for being informed when it was back in stock and to my surprise it was available within a day or so and at the same price. Not only is it an excellent bag-free cylinder vacuum cleaner but a bargain too.

Impressed so far!
Bought this based on a good WHICH review, although didn't realise the pet attachment wasn't included, exactly the same model number though. Good suction compared to my Miele which was a few years old. Seems to pick up dog hair really well, sometimes a bit hard to push on the carpet though. You can turn suction down but that defeats the object when trying to remove dog hair. Very easy to empty, does fill up rather quickly compared to a bag though. Two negatives, the controls on the handle are very useful BUT I keep accidentally catching them when vacuuming so if switches off or turns down the suction. Other negative, which both myself and other half have noticed is static, (I hope as oppose the electric anyway!) shocks from the handle, it gets me on the hip now and again. Man-made fibre carpets I guess! All in all very pleased so far and would recommend.

The cleaner is different from the photos - look at the next model up to see the handle which this one has. There is no suction control slider on the body either which is not great, the only way to turn it down is with the battery operated handle. I must admit that although it seems strange at first, the handle is very comfortable and the buttons (on/off, up/down) make cleaning easier. The attachments are very good, the main one is nice and light, the small rug tool and the upholstery combined tool are very good.
I am not impressed with the handle on the body and the way the bin and the filter compartment are opened but the cleaner has a 5 year warranty so the manufacturer must obviously trust nothing will break.
The cleaner is extremely powerful and needs to be turned down on carpet, otherwise it lifts it off the floor. It doesn't seem too noisy. I have not been able to find a future replacement Hepa filter - it would be great if John Lewis also sold the consumables.

Well designed fabulous little machine
The photos are not exactly as the machine is in reality. The machine has remote control in the handle enabling power on/off and the increase or decrease suction function. Low setting for dusting, high for extra suction. If you are a feeble individiual this cleaner is not for you as the power available is great and really gets the dirt and dust out f your carpets. Dust sensor means you know when the area being cleaned is truly done! Sturdy construction/good materials. Reasonably quiet even on highest setting. Best vacuum cleaner we've ever had! I was amazed, or should I say ashamed at how much dirt it removed from the carpets! I love it!

Brilliant compact vacuum cleaner.
We have a Golden Retriever - this cleaner actually does pick up dog hair Hurrah! I've owned several cleaners with variable power settings but this is the only one I've actually had to turn down on certain surfaces as it really is properly powerful. Highly recommended.

This is a lovely looking vacuum however it is not as it is in the picture. I specifically bought it as it had a slider power control and also because it does not have an added handle as I find them uncomfortable. This is not the case. It has a handle and the power is located in the handle. There are 2 settings, high or low. On high it is very difficult to move over carpet and on low it does not have very good suction. When I used it on the high setting the suction was so strong that the actual head became detached from the metal pole. I have now returned it and bought the Bosch Power Silence which is an absolute dream
