Schleich Farm Life: Hen
Detailed figurine of a Hen. For its health benefits and supply, chicken is consumed across the globe. As omnivores, chickens eat insects, seeds, and even mice and lizards. Throughout a three week long incubation, hens incubate and rotate their eggs, fertilized or not. Living up to a decade, chickens generally stay on land but have been known to fly in short bursts. As a flock, chickens abide by a pecking order. This way, the dominant birds always get first choice.

The company was founded by a man named Friedrich Schleich in 1935, but it wasn't until the 1950s that the first figurines were created, with a range of comic characters such as Snoopy, The Muppets and The Smurfs being released. The pride themselves on being a developer and supplier of top quality products with an educational aspect, as all their products are developed with the assistance of parents, teachers and children to ensure that they are designed for children’s hands.
The design of the Schleich products and the creation of the required tools are done in house, thus enabling them to control the initial vital steps of creating a new product. The production itself takes place at the company’s German headquarters and in a number of production facilities in foreign countries.
