Q & As

Exceeds expectations First of all my expectations were arguably rather low as this Siemens replaced a 16 year-old Hotpoint. We have now had our Siemens for 6 months and have used it for a variety of loads. The performance has never disappointed us and the noise is minimal. The saleslady in John Lewis at Cardiff talked us through all the features and pointed out what she perceived as the shortcoming of having to kneel down to clean the filter every two months. This shortcoming was then used as an upsell lever to a more expensive and sophisticated (ie more to go wrong)machine - on grounds of easier cleaning and cheaper running costs. This upsell fell on stony ground as we do not use the machine every day and we have solar panels. This machine is now a Which Best Buy (Nov 14 issue); with trade-in and a 5 year guarantee - perhaps hard to beat. 23 October 2014
Good Tumble Dryer I was torn between this & the excellent Miele dryer which my parents own, but costs £300 more than this Siemens. In the end I voted with my wallet & got the Siemens. Some reviews on this & other sites have mentioned that items are not coming out as dry as they would like. The important bit is to read page 5 of the manual. There are 3 heat settings L1, L2 & L3. L1 is set at default, & is the lowest heat setting. You need to set to L3 which is the highest. I wouldn't say items are bone dry when finished, but they are perfectly acceptable. Overall I'm pretty pleased with the Siemens & the 5 year warranty. Its a well made user friendly machine. My parents Miele is better, but not £300 better. 13 September 2014
Great load capacity and B rated energy efficiency Having always had vented dryers I was reluctant to change to a condenser but wanted a more Eco product. Emptying water tray is easy and product feels solid and well made. 29 April 2014
Excellent Tumble Dryer After my old AEG Tumble Dryer broke I questioned whether or not I needed a tumble dryer as my old AEG took hours to dry a load, if it got it dry at all, and I thought this was just how tumble dryer were. However, I decided to go for this siemens whilst it was on offer and I'm really glad I did. It dries loads really quickly, it's quiet and I don't have anything negative to say about it! I don't have any issues with tangling. 28 April 2014
my first condenser Bought primarily so that we don't have a vent through the wall and should be more efficient than my old vented one (time will tell on that one). It takes a few loads to get used to the auto sensing, but thats cracked now, it also throws quite a bit of heat back into he room so it keeps the utility warm and dry which is a bonus. You can also easily connect the outlet to a waste pipe so no emptying the drawer. The only slight negative is that you can't swop the door round so it opens the other way if that's important to you. 09 January 2014
Disappointing dryer Pros: quiet machine. No condensation in kitchen. Cons: Sheets and duvet covers were rolled into a tight ball almost immediately, despite removing and unrolling them various times during drying. Finally dried sheets one at a time with some towels added to stop them being rolled into a tight ball. This was not convenient. My 20 year old machine was better! Have now had machine replaced by one from the same manufacturer as my old machine and am much happier with results. 07 December 2013
