Imbued with Alice Temperley’s distinctive handwriting, this elegant, demure long lace dress from our Somerset range is a signature piece.

A fashionable synthesis of Victoriana and bohemian styles it has been beautifully finished in an ornate lace pattern.

Empire shaped, it features a v-back and a v-neck with fitted bust seams and panelling for the ultimate fit.

The sheer chiffon underskirt has been doubly lined, has two subtle faux side slits and offers floaty movement.

Delicate, elbow length lace mesh sleeves and the intricate floral, lace pattern on the skirt all come together to present a stunning evening gown.


Model wears size 8 and is 5ft 10.

Gorgeous, elegant dress I was a bit sceptical of ordering this dress after reading some of the reviews but I am delighted with it. The dress is as shown and as a standard size 10 it is a great fit. I don't believe the dress is meant to be figure hugging and thats what II feel gives it its elegance. So pleased to have bought it for half price, will wear it for my daughters wedding and feel marvellous! 29 March 2013
disappointing dress Really looked forward to receiving this dress as I hoped to wear it to a wedding; it was picked up from the Bristol store by a friend so i hadn't tried in on in store. Although well made the dress that arrived had no dark piping around the bust as shown on the model and had black vents down the side instead of the open vents shown. The skirt was mermaid tail shaped rather than straight. I am 5'6" and a standard size 10 but the hips were tight and the bust rather baggy giving a matronly look. My more slender teenage daughter also tried it on and the effect was much the same. It definitely was not the dress as shown on the model. 30 January 2013
Timeless classic elegance Wore this dress to a very special white tie event and I have never had so many compliments! It was up to date current fashion with the lace yet flattering neckline and sleeves! Probably comes up slighter larger on the top, as a 14 but 5'11" the length perfect but a little loose on the top but got away with it! Went onto party etc and it still felt right even though others in short/cocktail dresses! A real success well done to John Lewis and Temperley, know I will get many more wears out f it! 12 October 2012
Gorgeous dress I love this dress. I am 5' 6" and a size 14 and it fits perfectly. I can't wait to wear it to a black tie function in November. They seem to be selling fast so i am glad I have got mine. It is really flattering and comfortable and yet has that designer edge I just hope they don't produce and sell too many. The pink underdress seems to lift the black and I think that iis what makes it really different well done JL and AT. 07 October 2012
Heavenly This dress is just devine and soooo flattering, I am large busted but very slim hipped so the shape and the fit is just fantastic. I imagine it would be difficult to find a body or shape this wouldn't suit. It drapes beautifully and it's certianly worth the price tag. Unfortunately I just need to find somewhere to wear it! Odd bod I fell in love with this on the website but was hugely disappointed to receive it. It is, from afar, gorgeous. But the polyester lace really isn't very attractive, especially at this price - it does not seem to be the right quality for a Temperley product. Equally, the cut is strange. I'm a fairly standard 10, but this was clingy on the hips and very baggy on the bust. Proceed with caution and try before you buy. 25 September 2012
A little disappointing and not very flattering This is a beautiful dress but just not that flattering. As another reviewer said it's quite long, and I'm 5' 10" so it was a perfect length for me. The skirt is beautiful with the side detail/panelling but the bodice was not so great. On one side the lace was cut bigger than the lining, so it folded over slightly near the neckline - just a quality fault with that particular dress I think. I bought my usual size 12 which fitted almost everywhere but the bodice seemed a little big and it felt like the dress would be slipping off my shoulders all the time. Sad to have to return it, but it just didn't suit me. 25 September 2012
