Q & As

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent camera, better manuals please Bought this camera to replace my Panasonic super zoom camera. Although that camera did most things I wanted it to, it was difficult to get to a lot of the features. I didn't want the bulk of a dSlr as portability is important to me. It was a choice between this and the Olympus om-10d, I chose the Sony over the Olympus due to the larger sensor size and the ability to fit my old Pentax k mount lenses from my fully manual film slr I love how I've been able to customise controls so I can get to the functions I use a lot. Aside from the automated modes, I like to use manual mode and select the aperture, shutter speed and iOS setting quickly and I can now get to these without moving my eye from the view finder. I can also switch to b&w shooting, I prefer to do this on the camera rather than post processing as it help with the composure in this mode. I also like how the manual focus works which I use when i don't want to rely on autofocus. I've use some of the automated setting and have been impressed with the low light and HDR modes so far. I've just downloaded an app that allow me to trigger the shutter without touching the camera, this is great for when I use a tripod. Only come across two drawbacks. Firstly it would be great to switch of the shutter noise, I don' want to advertise I've taken a picture all the time and secondly the lack of a decent manual has meant it has taken me longer to learn how tousle the camera than I would have liked , hence four rather than five stars. 17 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sony A6000 (Silver) Excellent lightweight compact camera, does everything a professional SLR does. Mirror-less cameras are the future. You also get a 2 year guarantee with JL 28 October 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Often Overlooked This awesome little camera is much misunderstood and often overlooked I think. It does not 'feel right' in the hand when you first pick it up but stick a Thumbs Up grip on it and pair it with the Zeiss 16-70 lens and you have what in my opinion is one of the best mirrorless cameras currently available. 02 October 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by The future of cameras to come An absolute little gem. This camera is light and compact for a travel camera and its tilting screen is great for street photography. A great value for money camera when one thinks that its a 24.3 mega pixels and has a better menu system than my Nikon D800, but the screen is not touch screen; which would be extremely useful. I also bought the Sony 50mm f1.8 and the Sony 30mm f3.5 which are better than the Nikon equivalent. The electronic viewfinder does a great job although not as smooth as an optical viewfinder. The body is made in Thailand and the lenses made in China, but that does not bother me, since they are all well built and have robust built qualities. 01 October 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best-value camera I've ever bought. My wife and I have long experience as professional and semi-professional photographers; we both own high-end professional cameras by Sony and Nikon. However, these are also heavy and bulky and we decided to buy a ca,era with adequate performance to satisfy our non-professional needs that was also light, and small. The A6000 is the result and we are very satisfied indeed. In fact, although we have invested in an adapter that permits us to use all our other Sony/Minolta lenses with the camera, we have not invested in any additional e-mount lenses specifically designed for this camera - the quality for the modest kit lens is superb. In fact the camera is so sophisticated that we are using it on many more occasions than we expected - and in this respect anyone considering buying one for a complete beginner should be cautioned - although the A6000 has some "automatic" features these are really only fully suited to a photographer who understands what function is being automated and how that process is working. Purchasing was easy and the price competitive. Due to time and travel constraints we purchased the camera online and collected it 250 miles away from a Waitrose shop - the process worked flawlessly. 15 September 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great purchase Easy to use and everything your need for an amateur photographer - the only downside would be that it would be nice if it came with a more powerful lens 13 May 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Really versatile! I wanted something light and good quality to carry around instead of my very heavy Nikon D200. Results are brilliant as is convenience. With Fotodiox adaptors I can use ALL of my Nikkor and Pentax lenses from 1973 onwards, so I instantly have 8 prime lenses of superb quality. Switch on shutter release without lens and focus peaking, use aperture priority or manual exposure. Focus is manual with focus peaking on screen. You will not find better. 10 February 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great camera Love the camera it does everything I could wish for however had great difficulty registering and claiming cash back on the Internet. The whole internet set up is hopeless. Spoken to Sony on a number of occasions and still not received the cash flack. 10 February 2015
