Q & As

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best Mid range Mirrorless Camera Believe Me I have tested so many cameras including compact and mirrorless. A6000 is the best Camera you can find and under £500. I tried Olympus OME10 mark 2 and also new Olympus Pen but due to micro 4/3 sensor you can get the sharpness and defocusing what you can get with A6000. I bought 50mm f1.8 lens and the combination is best for portrait. I mostly use to take my son's pictures and it is amazing and you don't need to use flash in reason light. focusing is very fast but if you want faster then go for A6300 but extra £600. if you want very compact camera then I would buy RX100 series again as this is the best compact with 1inch sensor. 20 May 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic Camera I purchased this as an upgrade to an older camera that didn't have interchangeable lenses. One small issue I had was battery life was very bad but Sony have released an update (in March 16) that fixes this. Light, Powerful, Portable. Every box I had ticked. 11 May 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent camera I bought this camera to step up from a basic point and shoot and very little knowledge of photography in general. Very highly recommended. Excellent features, picture quality, very fast focus, small package. Easy to use and professional looking photo's. Basic features are easy to understand however Sony have not provided an in-depth guide of all features so I struggled to understand initially for example what was the best focus / metering setting I needed. For a beginner I strongly suggest purchasing a photography guide book so you can understand the concepts and apply them to your shots, it does not take much effort but the reward is great. After only a couple of months I am managing to obtain very good pictures and a high success rate. Price is not cheap but I would say is well worth it. The camera body is much smaller than a full size mirrored DSLR and at the same time I don't feel like I compromised in any way. 27 April 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very impressed I was torn between this camera and the canon M10. After talking to sales staff at JL and another shop it was clear that this was a far better camera. I've been using it for the last month now and have to say the image quality and ease of use is amazing. It's so easy to flick between settings and to get great pictures. Transferring photos to a smart phone is simple to. Can't recommend this enough 03 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent little camera I bought this Sony a6000 as a small portable camera to carry around with me when my Canon DSLR and kit would be be to cumbersome. This Sony a6000 can produce excellent results, even with the kit lens provided.I've only shot using fine JPEG so far as I can't use raw files due to my pc needing upgrading. The images produced out of the camera are very good and with some tweaking I'm sure I will be able to improve them. The free software provided by Sony,Capture one express ,will work on all pc's using Windows 7 or higher. At the moment I'm using Windows XP which is no good.I've found that when downloading the free camera apps it is best to use a tablet through wi-fi than go through a PC. The instruction manual provided by Sony is very basic and will not give you enough information to get the most out of the many settings of the camera. It is best to go on you tube were many videos can be found. All in all though an excellent little mirror less camera. 07 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great camera, good offer. High quality photos. Very light. Could have done with better instruction manual. 07 January 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent camera, better manuals please Bought this camera to replace my Panasonic super zoom camera. Although that camera did most things I wanted it to, it was difficult to get to a lot of the features. I didn't want the bulk of a dSlr as portability is important to me. It was a choice between this and the Olympus om-10d, I chose the Sony over the Olympus due to the larger sensor size and the ability to fit my old Pentax k mount lenses from my fully manual film slr I love how I've been able to customise controls so I can get to the functions I use a lot. Aside from the automated modes, I like to use manual mode and select the aperture, shutter speed and iOS setting quickly and I can now get to these without moving my eye from the view finder. I can also switch to b&w shooting, I prefer to do this on the camera rather than post processing as it help with the composure in this mode. I also like how the manual focus works which I use when i don't want to rely on autofocus. I've use some of the automated setting and have been impressed with the low light and HDR modes so far. I've just downloaded an app that allow me to trigger the shutter without touching the camera, this is great for when I use a tripod. Only come across two drawbacks. Firstly it would be great to switch of the shutter noise, I don' want to advertise I've taken a picture all the time and secondly the lack of a decent manual has meant it has taken me longer to learn how tousle the camera than I would have liked , hence four rather than five stars. 17 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sony A6000 (Silver) Excellent lightweight compact camera, does everything a professional SLR does. Mirror-less cameras are the future. You also get a 2 year guarantee with JL 28 October 2015
