Powerful zoom
There’s no need to fiddle with changing lenses while you’re in the wild or on the beach: every photo opportunity’s covered with the powerful 63x optical zoom lens. Grab expansive, wide-angle landscapes – or zoom in for super-telephoto close-ups of animals and birds.

Image stabilisation
Optical SteadyShot cuts down on camera shake for clearer, sharper stills - even at extreme zoom settings.

Auto shooting
Wondering which settings are best? Let your Intelligent Auto do all the work. From close-ups to twilight portraits, your camera adjusts everything automatically so you easily get the results you want, no fuss. It even detects if your subject's moving, cutting motion blur in any scene.

It's easy to grab breathtaking views of landscapes or city scenes with Panorama Mode. Just press the button and sweep the camera from side to side (or up and down). Your camera automatically stitches together a high-speed burst of frames to create one full panoramic image.

Q & As

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great value camera. At this price it is hard to fault this Sony camera. Yes there are some issues; if you read online reviews by the experts, there is no wifi upload, no raw and no 1080p Video. But the pictures are great and the zoom is brilliant. I am very happy with the camera and would recommend to anyone who is a keen amateur. Wish Sony had included a paper manual as the online version is clunky. That's my only negative comment. Would buy again without hesitation. 03 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A fantastic 70th birthday present. A good step up from my old Compact camera. This bridge camera is quite adequate for my purpose and far cheaper than a DSLR. The largest Optical Zoom takes a bit of getting used to. I recommend using a tripod on the maximum setting to avoid camera shake. Good value for money. 01 September 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by wonderful product really easy to use and produces really sharp photos 18 August 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sony does it again.... I am the owner of five digital (3 Sony, 1 Fuji, 1 Canon) cameras which I use for various purposes - this must be the best and was purchased on the strength of the digital zoom. Used for the first time at a bird reserve where I got full screen shots of sea birds on a cliff. The processing and focusing speeds are excellent. Highly recommended as value for money compared with other models of similar specification. Being able to use filters (55 mm) is also a + factor. The Sony battery life is way better than AA but you will have to buy another battery as backup for a long day's photography. 18 August 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by VERY POOR I purchased this for the zoom factor and price as it was cheaper than the Canon sx50. HOwever after using it for a couple of days I returned it and changed to the canon. The picture quality was awful, murky and grey and full zoom was blurred. Go for the canon every time. 10 July 2014
