Product information

The compact RX10 delivers DSLR results without having to take a separate lens around. It features a 20.2MP Exmor R CMOS sensor and class-leading Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens with f/2.8 aperture and 24-200mm range. Combined with optical image stabilisation images stay crisp and with the accessory shoe, adding new gear and expanding your shooting options is easy.

CMOS sensor
The 20.2MP 1.0 type back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS delivers the same detail-packed results as the renowned RX100 II. Meanwhile, the new BIONZ X image processor cuts noise levels at precise points for high-resolution images with faithful textures.

More versatile
Pin-sharp clarity or beautiful bokeh – the RX10 has it covered. A Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens with a constant max f/2.8 aperture and 24–200mm zoom range ensures natural-looking results in every shot. T coating reduces ghosting and flare, so you get the exact picture you want.

Wi-Fi & NFC
Go anywhere, share anytime. Simply touch the camera against an NFC-enabled smartphone or tablet to activate apps or share photos or movies - no extra cables, no complicated connections. Use built-in Wi-Fi to upload to social networks or connect to a PC or TV.

Faster shooting
An unforgettable moment can be brief – don’t miss it. The built-in Direct Drive SSM boosts focusing speed at telephoto range, stopping the lens precisely where you want. Lock-on autofocus combines with the new, speedy BIONZ X processor to capture fast action.

Intuitive design
The smooth manual ring surrounding the lens lets you fine-tune zoom and focus. A few clicks of the aperture ring adjusts the exposure. Difficult shots become easier – a light, strong magnesium alloy body shrugs off dust and drops of water.

Q & As

Rated 5 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Brilliant Amazing price for a camera with a 24 to 200mm 2.8 lens Zeiss lens. 04 August 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A Very Good camera I am a recent convert to the bridge camera concept from DLSR. I have owned some very good DLSRs and lenses giving excellent results, but there is a penalty - extra weight, do you have the right lens on the camera, etc. I now own Lumix FZ1000, and FZ72, Fuji Fine pix x-s1 and s1, and now I have a Sony Rx10 purchased from JL Ashford. Without a doubt in my mind the Sony is the best. It is well made, good balance/handling, clear menus and gives excellent results. The Zeiss lens is excellent at f2.8 and zoom action I cannot fault. The screen and view finder are excellent. A comparison with the Lumix FZ1000 - a very good lens/camera - handling - the Sony handles better in my opinion. Picture results from both are excellent - with more features / longer zoom offered by the Lumix. With regard to Video quality - not a feature I have used so can't comment . But for a camera to take on a day out the Sony is my preferred choice. 11 June 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by An Outstanding Camera with a Great Lens I bought this camera when shooting video with my first choice (the Panasonic FZ1000) turned out to be such a disappointment. The RX10 is beautifully built and takes superb pictures in all sorts of lighting conditions- with the f2.8 aperture permitting wonderful depth of field effects. The Sony doesn't suffer from the same video noise effects that plagued the FZ1000 and is a joy to shoot with. A DSLR with a similar quality lens would cost far more and not offer the same practicality. I'd recommend this camera to anyone that wants (nearly) DSLR quality without having to invest a small fortune in lenses. 26 April 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by great piece of kit. when you need to take a fast high quality shot this camera does it all for you. 24 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Almost a great camera I bought this camera, as many have done, in order to avoid the inconvenience of travelling with multiple lens and a dslr. So far I have not been disappointed. The Sony RX10 is definitely a superb camera for many uses and circumstances, though not all. The quality of images and the colour renditions are outstanding for normal light situations, especially outdoors. It is less good in low light, as one would expect with a f2.8 lens. The camera has been built to a very high standard, although there are a few irritating niggles where poor design and inferior quality have crept through. The shutter button is of high-quality metal, but the on/off switch and zoom switch on the exterior of the button are both of plastic with a cheap and brittle feel. The camera casing though feels pretty solid and altogether has a very comfortable feel to it. The screen is excellent and has a very useful swivel: addition of tilt would have made it even more useful. All cameras are compromises in some departments. The RX10 generally lives up to its hype, but a little more thought by Sony would have made it outstanding in my estimation. They could also have put together a decent manual to include in the box. 11 December 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Top Quality Camera This is not just another bridge camera its far more. This is a great (and I think better) alternative to an entry level DSLR. The 2.8 lens is way more than you would get with an entry level DSLR and a kit lens. It has the same sensor as the acclaimed RX100M2. The build quality is top notch and is weather sealed (not weather proof), so will take the odd splash of rain without a problem. The best way is to hold one and you will see what I mean it just feels good in the hand and a quality build. The rear screen is pin sharp and can be tilted both up and down and the EVF is very clear and sharp. It can be used fully manually as well as having a variety of auto settings and modes. It has WiFi which enables you to connect directly to a phone or tablet, this offers very basic control but the best part is being able to download your pictures straight to your phone, I found this all easy to set up and easy to use (I use an iPhone and iPad). In my view this a perfect camera for the enthusiast who doesn't want to invest in or carry a variety of lenses. Bigger than a point and shoot but much much better results. It may seem expensive but is actually great value for money for what you get. 04 March 2014
