Product information

The Sony HX60 is a more advanced compact camera for the photographer that’s ready to step up. Powerful features like full manual control let you tailor your images to perfection while advanced autofocus and image stabilisation create rock solid results. Full HD video capture happens at the push of a button and with remote shooting, getting yourself in frame for big group photos has never been easier.

30x zoom
Zoom and shoot with complete precision with this compact, digital camera. Enjoy a whole range of picture-enhancing technologies, including 30x optical zoom and image stabilisation for smooth, precise detail, whether the scene is up close or far away.

20.4MP CMOS power
Bring out the detail, even in low light. A back-illuminated 20.4MP Exmor R CMOS sensor has wide receptive areas to allow more light and detail into every frame. Along with the BIONZ X processor you can expect truer colour rendering, better noise reduction, and faster burst mode shooting

Advanced autofocus
Keep track of even the fastest moving action. Lock-on autofocus automatically adjusts frame size based on the characteristics of your subject for clear and defined results.

Take control
With the mode dial, you can select aperture or shutter priority and change settings to suit your shooting. Control the amount of light in the shot with an exposure compensation dial and capture exactly the images you want.

Room to grow
The HX60 features a hotshoe so you can experiment with new attachments as your abilities grow. Attach a range of accessories to your camera, like external flashes, studio microphones and electronic viewfinders.

Wi-Fi & NFC
There’s only one thing better than taking a great photo, and that’s sharing it. With Wi-Fi and NFC built-in you can share your best shots in a second. And with the smartphone remote app you’ll always be in control thanks to remote shooting.

Q & As

Sony quality product Bought this camera as a step-up from my former digital camera. Whilst the Sony DSC-HX60 camera is very comprehensive in its abilities, it is extremely easy to use and has some brilliant features. I spent the first week just experimenting; sometimes using the automatic features and other times going completely manual. I am delighted I purchased it and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in photography. 04 November 2014
Top Cybershot camera. Really neat little powerful Cybershot camera. Optical zoom fantastic 10 July 2014
A good step up! A point and shoot camera that also provides a wide range of manual features that allow you to tackle more challenging situations when you want to play the professional. The build quality is good with a solid feel to the function wheels, zoom mechanism, and other controls. The pictures have been excellent, particularly in low light/without flash, and easy to transfer to other devices. The only reservation is a rather fiddly (and rather frail looking) plastic cover for the mini USB port. The lack of GPS may also be an issue for some but battery life has been good and more than compensates. Overall this is a well designed and well engineered pocket sized bridge camera that should appeal to any who want something more than the basics. 09 July 2014
Great little camera I was looking for a pocketable zoom camera. My shortlist was the Nikon S9700, Sony HX60, Panasonic TZ60. I tried these out at the local JL store and the Sony won. First, it is easy to hold the Sony camera in one hand and shoot the photo. I'm 74 with average-sized hands. The other cameras were less easy to hold one-handed. Second, and this may not be the best test of the cameras, I took photos at both ends, wide and zoom, of the lens in the store. The test piece was a sign at the far end of the story, white lettering on a mid-blue background. The photos taken with the Panasonic and the Nikon on long zoom came out quite dull and looked nothing like what I could see in the distance with my eyes. The Sony rendered far better what I could see with the naked eye. This may have something to do with the quality of the Sony screen, but I don't think so. At the wide end of the lens, the Sony colours were truer to what I could see, although the Panasonic was not far behind. Third, I was attracted to the Panasonic by its having a viewfinder. Forget it. It's next to useless. Fourth, the Sony would make a good camera for those who require one for street photography. It is unobtrusive in the hand, it comes with a wrist-strap and it costs a lot less than the cameras, like the Ricoh GR 16MP and Nikon Coolpix A, which have been suggested as ideal for that purpose. I have a small Ricoh GX100, now a bit long in the tooth, a Nikon P7700, and a Nikon D90. I am an enthusiastic amateur with about 50 years experience of photography. 25 April 2014
