A very good product I'm a photography enthusiast. I've found the trinavy dial system and viewfinder on this camera extremely useful, particularly when framing. They are the main reasons I picked Nex7 over Nex5N. With right lens, the image quality is superb. Meanwhile, the kit lens that came with camera wasn't useful as the image quality is quite poor. The other thing to note is I've noticed that noise is quite obvious in higher ISO pictures. However, I always use a tripod and low ISO, so that wasn't a problem to me. All in all, this is a very high quality camera and definitely recommend it. 20 December 2012

Makes Being Creative So Easy I was playing with this camera yesterday and whilst messing around with the menus, I changed both aperture and shutter speed using the dual-dials. I selected manual mode, I used the dials while I was on live view (using the screen) I could see the results of closing and opening the aperture, it was brilliant I was so impressed with these dials I wanted to share it. The viewfinder is also brilliant. 18 August 2012

Fantastic alternative to a dSLR - if you want light and small I've been a keen, amateur photographer for several decades. I've always relied on SLR cameras from the likes of Nikon and Canon because of their undoubted excellence. But I've always had a smaller, lighter, simpler camera for those days when I want a camera with me but can't be bothered to carry a big heavy dSLR. Enter the Sony NEX-7. The camera's facilities and capabilities come very, very close to a good quality dSLR. And it's only about one quarter of the size - large-ish by compact camera standards, but tiny compared to a dSLR. And it has a viewfinder, something of a rarity on small cameras these days. But a viewfinder is oh-so-essential for framing your picture properly. Compact cameras are often referred to as P&S cameras - Point and Shoot. But on a sunny day 'Pray and Shoot' is more appropriate since all you do is point the camera in the right general direction and hope. Plus - a viewfinder helps you to hold the camera correctly and minimise camera shake. A couple of downsides. 1. The camera's Tri-Navi controls, so beloved by professional reviewers, are confusing at first. They take a lot of time to get used to, but I suspect the results will be well worth the effort. 2. There are not many interchangeable lenses available for the camera yet. But Sony are promising more later this year. It's eye-wateringly expensive. But worth every penny if you're serious about photography. 25 June 2012
