Q & As

Rated 5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent item Bought all of the cuckoo range, and am highly delighted with all items. This is smaller than I had anticipated but I really don't mind, as its so beautiful. Comes very well packaged, in a lovely box. Highly priced if I'm honest, but I still love it. 28 September 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Heavyweight small sandwich tray This is a fairly small sandwich tray with gold rim, part of Wedgwood's charming 'Harlequin - Cuckoo' range of fine bone china. It comes beautifully and very securely packaged in a huge pale blue and gold gift box. The tray is in the 'green' colourway and measures 25cm long x 15cm wide (9.5" x 6"). It's a lot smaller than I'd expected for the price, but its size chimes perfectly with the delicate teacups & saucers in this range. It holds 4-6 petit fours/fondant fancies or 6 unstacked sandwich quarters (with the crusts removed, of course!). In the traditional manner it has a very thick base which makes it surprisingly and almost aggressively heavy. Initially I disliked this quality, thinking that it handled more like stoneware than fine bone china, but after having used it several times I now prefer it to the larger and lighter Tea Plates in this range. Its weight adds to the luxury of this series, performing as it does like the Queen of the Afternoon Tea table. Just a pity it costs so much or I'd have happily bought some more! The Wedgwood site states that the sandwich tray is microwave-safe (I've never risked it) and recommends Hand Washing only. However I put mine in the dishwasher on a quick 30-min cycle using Fairy Platinum dishwasher tablets and, just like the other pieces in this collection, I can't spot any deterioration, even to the gold rim. 30 November 2011
