This looked a lovely sturdy scooter but I am unable to assemble it with the tools provided. I will therefore return the item for a refund. I bought a similar product from another store and had the same problem.
This is only suitable for someone with a toolbox and joinery skills. Sadly . I am most disappointed .

Bought this for my nephew's first birthday. He loved sitting on it straight away, and at 14 months he is now scooting all around the house on the wooden floors completely unaided. The product is really well made and is much nicer to look at, plus more sturdy, than the plastic alternatives.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MJB79 Poor quality - DO NIT BUY
My parents bought this for my son a couple of years ago and we have had two that have broken. Within the first three months the screw that holds the handle bars on broke leaving a half a sharp screw on the floor . As we still had a receipt I was able to exchange it, but 12 months later exactly the same thing has happened again but now we can't find a receipt and we're stuck.
This all comes down to cheap materials being used and is not the quality we would've hoped for from John Lewis. Having looked at the reviews other people have experienced exactly the same. DO NIOT BUY.

Kids love it! Assembly isn't too hard but a couple of design flaws:
1. The screw that attaches the handlebars snaps with time and half a sharp screw isn't a great thing to have lying around
2. The back wheels are attached with the same type of screw so as the bike goes forwards one side tightens up (and can jam - tip to avoid this is to rub both sides with wax crayon when assembling), while the other side unscrews itself (again wax helps)
Nevertheless, top service as always getting replacements and both our kids have a great time, but we only get around 8 month life which isn't much for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SallyCH Excellent product and service
I wanted to purchase this item from the John Lewis shop in Milton Keynes. A very helpful young man first checked stock and, when he was not able to find one in stock, he ordered one for me on line to be collected from my local Waitrose. He was extremely helpful.
I collected the product the next day although I did have to wait for some time in the Waitrose while they tried to find the item
My grand daughter loved it and I am very pleased with the quality although I am not sure her Dad was quite so pleased with having to build it

The quality of this product was excellent. However the tools provided to assemble the trike were not up to the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Honoop Lovely trike - easy to assemble!
We bought this for our daughter's first birthday, despite reviews saying it was difficult to assemble. Expecting the worst I got it out of the box last night in case parts were missing or I needed an engineering degree, I (a mummy with common sense) had finished it in 15 minutes!! It was a breeze, instructions easy to follow and looks lovely. My daughter is going to love it.
Definitely a recommendation from here!

Generally the quality of the trike is very good but it is let down by the self-assembly. Simple apart from the force needed to screw the four axles into place to secure the wheels. The allen key supplied is not up to the job, and when I used a better allen key it burred the allen socket on the screws. I ended up in the local store just before Christmas to exchange it - the staff were really helpful and managed to assemble it in the store for me. They only just managed to fit the wheels.
