Morphy Richards 43940 Elipta Kettle, Stainless Steel
Nice looking kettle
I was pleased with this when it arrived as it is an attractive kettle which is functional for both left and right handed people. I was however disappointed that within a few days it became apparent the kettle would not boil without being repeatedly turned back on when it was over half full. I therefore asked for a refund. The customer service from John Lewis was, as usual, second to none.

Another Failing Kettle
Bought it to replace an old reliable Russell Hobbs, but keeps switching off, only a few days after purchase. Persevered for a bit but problem got worse as reported by other reviewers. Conclusion - design fault. Will return it asap and go for another make. Very disappointed with brand, but very happy with John Lewis service.

No more burnt fingers!
The swing lid on this kettle is a really good idea, as you can press the release button and the lid flips open, so you do not get scalded if you want to refill it with cold water soon after boiling the first kettlleful.
It looks stylish and smart and is not too heavy to lift when full. It blends in well with other stainless steel appliances in the kitchen and as it is slim - line, takes up less space on the work top.

disco blue lighting and wobbling madly when full it lasted three goes before it died. Back to JL tomorrow for a refund I think! Shame as it is a nice shape.

Nice looking kettle, but faulty, offset by usual JL excellent service...
This is a fine looking kettle, that allows you to boil minimal amounts of water (and hence economical), but it's let down by faults.
The first kettle I received had minor scratches that you wouldn't expect on a brand new item . JL replaced it immediately.
The 2nd kettle developed a fault after a week, whereby it would continually switch itself off after being switched on, necessitating holding down the '"On" switch to get it to boil. JL immediately swapped it again, displaying the excellent customer service it's known for.
We'll see what happens next...

Tested to destruction
We use these in our office with about 50 people per kettle, so far out of 4 kettles in 2 years we've only replaced one (and we like our tea!). The water fill indicator is clear and easy to read, the kettle boils rapidly and the lid has a nice tilt feature so don't need to take it off to refill. Very much worth the reasonable price!

Online purchase was easy and the kettle arrived promptly. In use we are very pleased with the kettle which is low priced but excellent quality without `gimmicks'.

Smart but not entirely functional
The kettle looks good and the lighting up feature is appealing. It also pours well. It gets very hot to the touch (although I like this, as it reminds me of an old-fashioned hob kettle). It has carried on boiling without switching off a few times. The only thing I would really complain about though is the claim on the packaging that it's a 360 degree kettle, when in the instructions it says you should preferably place it correctly on the oval base.
