Dualit Architect Kettle, Polished Steel with Canvas Trim

Product information

Arriving with a 2-year guarantee that's exclusive to John Lewis, everything about Dualit’s Architect Kettle is cool and collected. Resilient and stylish, this kettle makes boiling water an art form.

The powerful 2.3kW element brings water to boiling point super fast, and a unique smooth pouring action prevents any water from dripping on to your kettle or work surface. With a 1.5L capacity, this is the perfect size for catering for families whilst still being handy for a quick cup.

The water-level indicator window lights up a cool blue whilst boiling, and cup level indicators marked on the window means there’s never any need to over boil. A handy push button lid ensures your hands are kept safe from escaping steam.

Different coloured panels can be attached onto the sides and top of this kettle, so you can mix and match with your kitchen decor.

Q & As

Dualit Architect Kettle 4.5 5 67 67
Terrible I really wanted to like this kettle as its design is stunning but a fine example of style over function.. I could, for that reason, have tolerated the heat and noise but it LEAKED!!! Duralit were very unhelpful as we live abroad they were neither interested nor sympathetic. NOT GOOD 16 January 2015
Lovely looking kettle Unlike others I don't find this kettle any noisier than others?! It looks great, does get super hot but it's a metal kettle what do you expect? You are protected by the plastic handle and so no chance of burning. Great purchase! : ) 17 December 2014
good purchase brought this Dualit kettle a few months ago and its a good kettle. looks stylish 29 November 2014
Best of British...... The non-drip spout works like a dream, even when pouring fast. It is a little noisy, but the extra decibels are just enough to drown out the Missus! It's not the most powerful kettle on the market and the boiling times reflect this....but it just gives me more time to admire the stunning design. To be honest I've never felt it takes excessively long. We also did some looking around before we bought after reading some comments about it being excessively hot, as it's metal. We couldn't find a twin walled metal kettle in JL. I guess that's just it though, metal is a better conductor than plastic! The filter is excellent quality and very resilient, unlike most I've encountered before. Anyhow we loved it so much we bought the toaster, which too is excellent, and very quick! 23 November 2014
Stylish kettle I purchased this kettle a few months ago & am delighted with both the performance & looks. I have other Dualit items, my favourite being the original toaster purchased from J L in 2001 (which is still going strong, a record as I have been through any toasters since 1970). One thing I particularly like about this kettle is the spout angle which means when it boils the steam does not go in an upward direction hitting the bottom of the wall cupboards. 21 November 2014
Dualit Kettle A bitter disappointment have bought several Dualit kettles, all been fine, I agree with many others, the noise is horrific!!! Nice to look at but thats all. Not too sure if I like the new model which could have only reached the shelves in John Lewis the very next day I thought I'd purchased the newest model, oh well. Shame. 22 October 2014
Mind the top it's very hot I will start with the negatives! The lid is made of metal and so gets boiling hot and there is a very small bit of plastic on the lid that you are supposed to press if you need to close the lid. If you don't push this small piece of plastic you will burn your fingers. You have been warned! I would agree with the other reviewers who mentioned it is a very loud kettle when boiling and it shakes on boiling. On the plus side I do like the look of it as an object and its silver gleams. Spout pours well. It is a focal point in the kitchen and has a quality feel to it. 11 October 2014
Stylish but not perfect. I've had this kettle for 11 months. To be frank I bought it for it's looks and it is the style which gets the 4 stars. It's very stylish but not perfect. The finish is very good and easy to clean. None of the plastic trim shows any sign of discoloration. Unlike some other kettles I've had in the past this gives a clean pour with no dripping. However, the pour is not perfect because after you stop pouring and start to return the kettle to the vertical position it drips a small amount of water. The real down side of this kettle is the noise. It is by far the loudest kettle I have ever heard - it is not possible to have a conversation whilst it's boiling. The pop up lid has now started to stick in the closed position. This is usually when there is some water which has cooled but not quite reached room temperature. Time will tell whether this is a developing fault. My previous kettle was plastic had a 3000W element. This has a 2300W element and is slower to boil. Being metal the outside does get hotter than a plastic kettle and the water cools down quite quickly - my guess this is quite normal and to be expected. On the plus side the metal body means you don't get that disgusting taste that you get during the first few weeks with a plastic kettle. 08 September 2014
