I bought this light last year to go above our kitchen island. After a couple of months the glass started to fog up. After countless trips to the Solihull store, and endless phone calls, I had even sent an email and attached photos to the supplier (at the request of john lewis), they finally sent me 3 globes as a replacement with a promise of re-sending the other 2 when they had some. needless to say i never received the other two globes. And now the other 3 have fogged up too. Hopeless light, there is obviously a flaw with the glass as 5 of my 6 globes are completely foggy. It is now an eye sore above my island and i will she to replace the whole light. Poor customer service from John Lewis which is even more disappointing as i spent three trips to the store, with the foggy bulbs, endless phone calls. And they still couldn't get it right. Whole experience has been very frustrating.

Rated 1 out of 5 by SuchAShame Fatal design flaw
I loved the look of this light and it was perfect for the room I had it installed in. The first fitting worked for a few months, then the bulbs started going out. It became obvious they were falling out rather than blowing out.
After getting to a point where I was replacing bulbs every week or so, I spoke to John Lewis and ordered a new one to replace it. The second installation has now developed the same fault. I will have to return this one as well.
I believe the beads in the bottom of the glass bells are causing the ends of the fitting to overheat. If you look closely at the instructions, there is a little (very little - no electrician is going to pay attention to that tiny picture!) drawing in the bottom right corner showing that you must only have a single layer of beads.
That is not the way John Lewis shows the light on it website and its not actually possible to install it like that because even if you use half as many beads as it comes packaged with, they tumble into the middle as soon as you turn the bell upright to put it back on. A fatal design flaw in a produce I will find very hard to replace!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Malteaser Very pretty lights but fragile product
Bought these lights for our dining room after being wowed in the shop.
My hubby installed the lights and it was quite fiddly. The bulbs are filled with the glass baubles and then the metal light bulb holder is passed through the neck of the bulb. This bit was anxiety inducing because there needed to be some force to push this in and the glass just doesnt feel sturdy enough.
Once it was on, the bulb certainly is not going to fall off. However, I'm not so sure replacing a light (which means removing the bulb) is going to be in anyway easy.
The rest of the installation was simple, but the apparatus holding the electricals were made of somewhat shoddy plastic.
The wire holding the lights are made of a metallic flrexible outer casing but are often scrunched up and will need to be smoothly straightened.
Once the light is on, however, I can guarantee you it was worth it. No one who has visited the house has left without at least making a positive comment on the lights. Draped over a dining table, it just adds class, elegance and room
The lights themselves are bright and can easily fill a whole room but the baubles do create a nice mosaic effect and this also has an added benefit that you can look directly at the lights without it being too bright.
Beware those who have particularly tall ceilings, however, as the length of the wire hanging down is limited and it may not droop as far down as you were hoping for. Changing the length of the wire also can be done from the outside (as we found after fiddling in the inside of the box). Better instructions certainly could have prevented this.
All in all, these lights look fabulous but the assembly and quality of the materials could have easily been made a bit more durable which would not have impacted on the style. 4 stars reflects this.
I'm certainly not looking forward to when the lights have to be changed!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Natalie8 Beautiful but fragile - worth the patience needed
First purchase was faulty, second was fine - excellent return service is always a reason to use JL. Lights look beautiful. You MUST follow the instructions and have patience. Very good lights for over the dining table. Everyone who has seen them has loved them. I am very happy with the purchase and have recommended other lights in this collection to friends.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sirhowybird A Statement Light - Gorgeous & Tips For Installation
This was purchased with a great deal of trepidation, however this was easily installed.
Some tips for you:-
When shortening the wires loop the excess round and secure with insulation tape and rest them in the actual light fitting 'trough".
Definitely two person job,
When filling the glass bulb shades, rest each shade on a towel horizontally and gently feed the beads in slowly.
Finally (this wasted one hour and three phone calls to local stores) if you find an A4 double sided red font warning in 12 different languages stating - WARNING you must use enclosed tool to fit shades onto light fittings - it doesn't exist, there is no tool !!! Each glass shade comes packaged in a bubble wrap envelope, fill with beads whilst keeping it in this bubble envelope, this is great for two reasons, ONE - it stops you getting fingerprints on the glass and TWO - hold the glass shades by the neck and bottom of shade and simply push on, not at an angle,, this was the panic stage for us as we honestly thought we would break them.
The final result is stunning and worth the investment.
I hope the above helps you.

Having reviewed both the good and not so good feedback and after waiting for this to come back into stock I am absolutely delighted I decided to go with this light, it looks amazing!
Yes it was work having to put it up. In fact both my partner and I were on standby to help the electrician after reading it was possibly more than a one man job and it certainly was.
The instructions are simple to say the least and could so easily be re-written to help, for example; measure the height you want the lights at and adjust the cords before putting it up as once the plate is up you can make the light higher but not lower as the wires are held in place with screws. Also as the ceiling fitting is a long bar and the ends have one small screw hole you need to be ambidextrous and have long arms to hold one end up whilst attaching the other (unless you have help of course).
The lights are bright so I can see why you might wish for a dimmer however I stuck with the usual switch rather than risking blowing the transformer.
I am so happy with this purchase and pleased I was able to make a balanced and informed choice from the other reviews.

We have put up the light but it really is not worth the price. We had to put the wiring into the loft as there isnt enough room under the fixing plate, the chrome cover rocks and when you shorten the wiring for the length of lights it pokes out of the side of the fixing. The whole thing feels cheap, you have to put all the glass beads into the glass shades, and carefully place the chrome stem into the shade with the halogen bulb. It does look pretty when lit though, and it is unusual.
