The machine makes good waffles. There are several recipes and tips in the user manual which are helpful, such as left over waffles can be frozen and reheated by a toaser when needed. Heats up relatively quickly and makes consistent waffles. The plates also detach for easy cleaning. You can purchase replacement plates or other shapes from the manufacturers website if required.

My boyfriend bought this waffle maker for me. I think there must have been something wrong with the thermostat as the waffles were burnt on the outside and raw inside. It then stopped working mid-way though the first batch. Returned it for a refund having seen from online reviews here and elsewhere that this is a common complaint. JL should re-consider stocking this item given how many people find it faulty.

This waffle maker gets too hot which means the waffles burn on the outside and are raw on the inside. Tried lots of different waffle recipes - same outcome each time. Maybe we got a faulty one and were unlucky? Returned it yesterday to John Lewis and got full refund - great service as always.

We bought the Cuisinart WAF1U Waffle Maker in November and all of a sudden a few days ago it just stopped working. In less than 2 months that is.
It took us by surprise and don't know what could be the problem.
Here's hoping John Lewis offers to replace the unit.

The plates for the Cuisinart Sandwich Maker GRSM1U, Waffle Maker WAF1U, and 2-in-1 Sandwich & Waffle Maker GRSM1WU are fully interchangeable. Extra plates are available from Cuisinart Accessories & Spares.
The only difference between the machines is that the Sandwich Maker and 2-in-1 Sandwich & Waffle Maker have a variable temperature control, whereas the Waffle Maker has a fixed temperature control.

Perfect waffles made in five minutes once waffle maker is ready. Easy to clean too. Do not put too much mix in the edges to avoid spillage as it all spreads it when lid is closed

Out the box; Nice weight and industrial feel and finish and it's small enough to store away without too much trouble. Heats up quite quick, which is around the same time it takes to prep your batter, which was very easy (all in one mix, for the basic). I was a bit skeptical about the results, but i must admit, after one trial run; where i pulled them out a minute early, the next batch were perfect. Honestly, so easy to make and they look like you've bought them in, and so much nicer than the shop bought variety anyway. They're surprisingly large once cooked.
Pros: almost catering quality machine. Sturdy. Perfect results that you can tweak to your liking, with even cooking.
Tip: once you pour the batter on the plate, give it a little nudge to fill the space and you'll get a full even waffle as it expands and cooks

I saw this waffle maker reviewed in a magazine with an associated recipe for buckwheat waffles and strawberry ice cream. Yummy. Luckily John Lewis had one and Click and Collect meant I had it within 24 hours. The Cuisinart is easy to use and very easy to wash. The waffle recipe worked a treat and the only problem now is that I need to control my and my family's waffle habit or else! Fun for all the family!
