Q & As

HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer & Fax Machine 3.5 5 17 17
Photos a problem I bought the machine because of positive photo reviews. Anything other than postcard size prints are a problem. I have followed all the guides and still not right except for postcard sizes. The HP help desk said that the Set-up cartridges that came with the printer are only designed for a limited amount of printing just to configure the printer etc. also that HP printers already have a built in surge protector and if you have the printer connected to a power bar/strip, the printer will not get all the power it needs to function properly and this could be another reason why you are having quality issues. Very disappointed. 03 April 2014
Long Time HP Printer user very dissapointed I had a HP 3210 all in one printer bought from John Lewis for many years and it never failed me until it needed a repair. I chose the 7520e as a replacement because the specification was the closest to my needs. I read the reviews on John Lewis website and noted that one review mentioned that the the printer failed to come out of standby mode and JL promptly exchanged it. As my previous HP printer had been so reliable I ignored that review and made the purchase, Big mistake! I was prompted to write my 1st review on here because I noticed that other reviews since my purchase have had similar problems with this model. The 1st 7520e that was delivered failed to function at all and John Lewis technical department agreed it was faulty and promptly replaced it. The 2nd 7520e seem to work OK at first and the results were impressive. But gradually it has had one fault after another and failed to operate properly. There were long pauses before it started to print and the wireless connection failed to work. We had to switch it to USB connection to get it to function at all. Recently it has failed to print photos and the drop down menu for photo paper sizes disappeared. I have, like another reviewer on here exhausted all the diagnostics. At the moment it is capable of very little and I am about to contact John Lewis to see if I can exchange it for a different make and model as it is still in its first year of its 2 year warranty. It is not John Lewis's fault I think it is a rogue HP model but you might be lucky and get one that works properly. I am very disappointed with HP they must know there are problems with the 7520 and have not had the decency to recall them. 02 April 2014
Easier than I thought Nice printer, copier, scanner which was much easier to set up across a number of laptops than I had feared - it almost does it itself although the standard HP sales pitch was a it tiring (it comes with all computer product so you cannot escape it). Easy to use but seems at times to lack a good surface for printed copy to arrive at. All in all I like it. 25 March 2014
HP Photosmart 7520 e-All-in-One Printer & Fax Machine Does exactly what is says, easy to put together and connect. 13 March 2014
Easy to set up wireless This printer is very easy to set up with a wireless connection and subsequently be found by other computers on the same network. It prints well and being able to print double-sided is a real plus. You can also set it up to email scans which is useful. You do need space as it's quite big; therefore pretty robust. 18 February 2014
Very good printer This is a very good printer but does cost a bit on the Inks, so far is working ok. Had a problem with the power lead on the first printer but was changed very quickly, all in all a very good service from John Lewis. 13 February 2014
Never had problems with an HP printer before This must be my 4th or 5th HP printer and I have never had problems like this before. When it prints the quality is good. But............ I bought the printer in store just before Christmas when I had a lot of printing to do. The set up information wasn't clear and one set of instructions was contradictory. I had just put a new set of cartridges in my previous printer and wanted a printer which used the same cartridges which I duly put in the new one. I then found that the printer wouldn't work at all unless I put in the set up cartridges. The set ups are now running out and even though I tried to keep the others covered, they have dried up, so it seems that I have wasted 5 cartridges which has made it a very expensive printer. I don't know how many times I have had to download printer drivers probably 5 or 6 times, I'm not sure why. Earlier this week, I tried to print something - the document was queued but nothing happened. The diagnostics weren't very clear and I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling the software and downloading drivers yet again! I also wanted an OCR facility, the HP website gave the impression that it was available. It is - sort of, but you have to download the software from a third party site. Not something which I was happy to do. If you get a message saying "printer failed" - don't panic it may just need more ink. I have always been very happy with HP printers but I will think carefully before buying another. 07 February 2014
