Q & As

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 40 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Convenient quality sound I have had a Sonos Play5 for some time and really liked the convenience of access to all my CDs without needing CDs all over the place, as well as using it as a radio. But the price for that was the audio quality only good enough for radio or a bit of background music. This unit driving the HiFi gives me the best of both worlds. Its a pleasure to listen to and with the ease of use you expect from Sonos. So the modern HiFi rack is Amp and Sonos box. The other components: DAB Radio and CD Player join Tape dec and Record player as historical artefacts. 03 May 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Connects beautifully Very useful addition to the rest of my Sonos system. I don't need to replace my existing hi if and get no lag when used simultaneously with Sonos play ones in the next room. Output from the connect is a little quiet so slightly higher volume setting needed on the amplifier. 27 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Sonos sound system Fantastic sound quality . Excellent value for money 26 January 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent product - needs better integration with Apple Music and Iplayer Was given this for Christmas (well, I asked for it) and it is seemless and does exactly what it is meant to. The only gripe is the integration with Apple Music through the beta is still clunky and I have not worked out how to play podcasts through it. But overall very pleased. 26 January 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great but not outstanding without AirPlay I now have 4 connects around the house and what they are great at is synchronising the sound in multiple rooms. If you don't need to do that, then you may as well buy individual Bluetooth speakers. I also already had good Hifi systems in each room and didn't want to replace them. This converts non SMART HiFi gear to be online and wifi enabled. I like the ability to control music from a smartphone or tablet from anywhere in the house. It does this very well with the SONOS app. However, be warned that SONOS is not Apple AirPlay compliant and so you cannot use your iTunes app to control your music. That said, the SONOS app is just as good at playing music from your MP3 library. So 4 star great. Had it come with Apple AirPlay, I would have awarded 5 stars. 07 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Did exactly what I wanted Setup was really easy. Connected to inbuilt speaker system and everything works from a mobile app (you can use desktop too if you want). Supports all my media, mostly iTunes & radio stations, and will soon support playing music from Apple Music (the streaming service too). On the downside it is pretty expensive, and maybe the Chromecast audio will soon do all this for a fraction of the price. But having said that if you plan to use Sonos speakers elsewhere in the house then this is probably the simplest solution. 15 December 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by On the quiet side and pricey I bought this Sonos connect to work alongside my Sonos 1 and Sonos 3 speakers so I could listen to the same music in my living room as elsewhere in the house, but using my existing amp and speakers. Unfortunately, the output of the Sonos connect is MUCH quieter than, for example, a CD player. Consequently, when trying to balance the sound between rooms, the volume on the Sonos controller needs to be close to the maximum for the connect to produce the same sound in the living room as the other Sonos speakers set near their minimum. Since there is no way to adjust the output level of the Connect, the only way to correct this is to crank up the volume on the amp. Unfortunately that means a unpleasantly loud surprise when the source is switched back to the CD player or TV if I forget to adjust it back down again after listening to the Sonos! It also defeats to object of a music device controlled via a tablet if you have to manually adjust the volume... It's also quite expensive, considering it is basically a Sonos 3 without the speaker bits. Other than that, it's great! Looks nice and works well, accepting the above gripes. 27 October 2015
