Stoves Richmond 550DFW Dual Fuel Mini Range Cooker, Jalapeño Red

Product information

Pressed for space but want a range cooker to complete the look of your kitchen? The Stoves Richmond 550DFW is a mini dual fuel range cooker that should slot into even the tightest of kitchen spaces, and with a range of vibrant colours to choose from it will easily become the kitchen centrepiece.

The top features a fantastically retro cast lid with chrome handle, concealing the 4-zone gas hob and wok burner when the cooker isn’t in use. There’s electric fan in the main oven, and an electric grill with conventional electric oven cooking in the top compartment.

There are twin side lights for optimum illumination inside, and the interiors are coated with Pristine enamel, which is 3 times easier than standard enamel to wipe clean. The LED clock/programmer also makes it easy to set timers and avoid overcooking.

For added safety, this oven will cut off the gas supply if the flame goes out.

Stoves Richmond 550DFW Dual Fuel Mini Range Cooker, Jalapeño Red 3.8 5 4 4
Not as great as it looks When I bought this beautiful cooker, which fits perfectly into the space I have, I didn't know or notice a few things. It has the big "wok" ring and small simmer ring in front; the two normal-sized rings I'd use for the majority of my cooking are in the back, harder to get at. Like others I didn't realise you have to order and buy a grill handle, which has to be taken off and kept somewhere or the grill door won't close. You have to hold some of the dials in for an awfully long time before you can be sure that the burner will stay lit after you let go; many times I've noticed something's not cooking because the flame is out. But what sent me over the top was the oven light. It goes on automatically when the oven's on, hence it dies pretty quickly. I discoved that to replace it you have to get down on your knees, unscrew four hard-to-reach screws, remove the entire oven backplate, replace the bulb, then repeat the process, with even more diffiiculty, in reverse. I've just spent a half-hour lying on my back with a torch and screwdriver trying to fit my hands into the tiny space. Next time it burns out I'll just do without. Terrible design. 27 May 2014
Big, Bold & Beautiful After extensive research and reading continuous surveys we settled on the Stoves Mini Range. Needless to say we have not been disappointed. The only negative is the lack of handle for the grill pan. 06 February 2014
Looks better than it performs Needed emergency replacement for previous cooker so bought this in a hurry, without research. Cooker was delivered with faulty block terminal, which meant that the electrical connection could not be made, so for a week could only use hob, and at first had problems with gas burners going out if control knob not held in depressed position beyond the already lengthy "up to15 seconds" specified in the handbook # though most of the time burners now light quickly enough so it's probably just a case of getting used to the way it works# When electrics eventually connected, the grill was found to be faulty and had to be replaced. Agree with previous reviewer about lack of temperature control on grill - the only way to control the speed of grilling is to change the shelf position or that of the grill trivet, which is neither convenient nor satisfactory during cooking. I think this is a major drawback. I too am surprised that grill pan handle is not supplied, given that this is not a cheap model. Instruction book could be clearer - e.g. poor info on how to reset clock. If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have bought this model - though it does look good! 21 November 2013
Grill could be better Overall this oven is very good but the grill part of the top oven needs to have a variable heat setting (it only has low or high for the full width of the grill or high for the middle part of the grill) Also - the metal lid could do with the same safety cut off as the glass lid models have (the gas is cut off if the lid is accidentally closed while a burner is on) Also - be aware that the ovens are NOT supplied with a handle for the grill pan, so you have to purchase this separately from the Stoves website. 27 October 2013
