Peter Petite, the Village Postman collects the post from the village post box and delivers all the letters on his bicycle around Sylvania.

Includes 1 Figure, postbox, letters, parcel, bike, postman's bag, pencil, stamp and ink pad.

All characters are grouped into families, with the company starting out with woodland creatures, before expanding into more domestic animals such as cats and dogs, as well as obscure ones such as penguins and meerkats.

Their world is set in the 1970s era, with most families being of a rural lower-middle class. Many inhabitants own successful family businesses or have professions such as teachers and doctors.

They started production in 1985 and were released in Japan and North America only. However, by 1987, their success ensured them to travel overseas to Western Europe. By 1988 they were a runaway success, even having their own animated TV show.

The range did experience a slight dip in popularity come the end of the 1990s, being discontinued in the UK. But it was soon revived by Flair and in 2007, they celebrated their 20th anniversary with a bang.

Lovely attention to detail Another cute addition to my daughters collection. Lovely attention to detail and up to the usual Sylvanians standards although make sure you keep an eye on the little letters or they may get lost! 25 January 2012

Value for money I purchased two village postman sets to supplement assorted sylvanian sets I had bought for two of my granddaughters at Christmas. I thought the postman set was very authentic and would fit in with any of the other play sets. The postman is reasonably priced and has lots of additional pieces to interest the children, although some of the pieces are tiny. The grandchildren love them and play for hours. 23 January 2012
