Born in 1915 at Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, Sir Terry Frost started painting while a prisoner of war in Germany in 1943. He moved to St Ives in 1946 where he studied under Leonard Fuller. He honed his skills at the Camberwell School of Art, under Pasmore and Coldstream, holding his first one-man exhibition in London at the Leicester Galleries in 1952 and in New York at the Bertha Schaefer Gallery in 1960. He taught at Bath Academy, Corsham, Gregory Fellow at Leeds University and at the Leeds College of Art.
