Q & As

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 34 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Not quite perfect. Excellent value for money, easy to use and heats up really quickly. Got us out of trouble when we were without gas for a week. Did not really make much use of the various settings, finding that "manual" was fine for our needs. Main problem is that even on its very lowest setting the heat is much too fierce so simmering is impossible. If this can be resolved by Tefal it will be worth 5 stars 08 December 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by hots This is the quickest way of heating up a large volume of food.. It has various programmes which one can play with to achieve the optimum rate of heating. The weakness of this and other induction hobs I have tried is that even on the lowest setting it is too hot for simmering. After use it sensibly keeps the fan running to cool the device; compact; easy clean; efficient. 19 November 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Such a Disappointment This really was a disappointing piece of kitchen equipment – so much so that I thought it was defective and talked to Technical Support who read the User Guide to me. It turned out that an Addendum to this guide now advises that ‘Heat Milk’ will take a timed 10 minutes before switching off (from a vigorous boil) – so, better done in a microwave oven. But this is the lowest power setting available and can be used to simmer (boil) potatoes if used twice for 20 minutes. Of course, you should bring the spuds to the boil on the ‘Manual’ power setting of P9 where the inductive coupling to my shiny stainless steel saucepans (or cast iron frying pan) is very high and therefore very efficient. The ‘Boil Water’ is controlled by the same timer (10 minutes) that is again far too long and independent of saucepan size. Better done in an electric kettle – which will switch off after 3 or 4 minutes. The pre-set temperature buttons for ‘Stir Fry’ or ‘Deep Fry’ probably give a ‘maintenance temperature’ but don’t actually heat the pan at a useful speed. [Use ‘Manual’ settings first and test with a piece of food.] I had hoped that the Tefal hob would have been an electronic ‘gas ring’ device, i.e. bring to temperature at maximum power, then set an actual lower maintaining power – based on all the audio or visual cues that a cook would normally use. I finally noticed that the inductive coupling can be usefully reduced if the pan is offset from the centre of the hob. It is usefully tolerant of pan movement and does not instantly switch off. To keep it clean – especially the buttons, I used grease-proof paper under the pan and over the controls. But heck, I’m not a cook, just a man who uses a kitchen. 18 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best ever little hob Easy to use cheap to run cooks a lot quicker than conventional hob used most of the auto and find they work well 11 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by couldn't do without This is truly what it says. An every day use induction hob. I bought this as my main induction hob was in need of repair and awaiting parts and found this incredibly faster than my existing one. what I thought was a temporary measure I now use along side my existing one. This is extremely easy to use, heats very rapidly, light enough to move around the kitchen as needed though solidly built. I now wouldn't be without it. Quality is great too. 08 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Superb! Especially the "Heat milk" option. I have a 90cm induction hob and bought this as extra cooking space if needed - but I expect I will use it more often on its own. Although I have not yet fully tried all the functions other than to check it works, the 85 degree "Heat milk" option will be great - perfect for making egg custards, in particular as bases for home-made ice creams where the mixture needs to be heated to 85 and no higher! 05 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it. I have a rayburn but don't have it on when the weather is warm. Used this little hob - perfect to cook my porridge and vegetables. May purchase another. 27 October 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Brilliant, sooo useful!!! Amazing little hob - heats up pan almost instantly (has to be induction compatible pan, which luckily I had anyway...) Heats milk automatically without boiling over, cooks a variety of food perfectly! Cooked chicken pieces in a saucepan with a lid on 80 degrees so they steamed, were so tender!! Will probably buy a second one..,., 27 October 2015
