The Family Seat Toilet Seat, White
Helped No End!
Ok, so yes fixing the thing to the toilet can be a little tricky, but once it's on it works. This is NOT a potty and so truly teaches the child to use a toilet. Personally I think the gap between the child seat and the main seat is the least of our worries in toilet training. This is a real toilet seat for young children and has given our little boy so much confidence in this stage of his early life.
We've had the seat for quite a while now and never had an issue with the catch.
The seat is also the perfect solution if you are short of space and don't want additional clutter.
If that wasn't enough, our childcarer now wants one as well!

Do NOT buy this!!
We bought this hoping it would encourage confidence in our daughter to visit the toilet herself. After the excessively complicated fitting we found the final fixing point graunched making any further tightening impossible. The fact the child seat sat higher than the adult seat meant if our daughter wasn't sat in exactly the correct place then urine sprayed out all over the seat, the toilet & the floor. The final straw was the constant detachment of the seat from the fixing meaning on one occasion the toilet seat swung completely from the toilet which, needless to say did not inspire confidence!! We had bought the wooden effect of this & have returned both. Very disappointed that JL sells such a poor product.

Avoid, Avoid, Avoid
I cannot belive that John Lewis are selling this pile of rubbish. There are so many pieces and the instructions are so poor that it took me 2 hours to assemble. Also, the seat kept detaching from the base whilst sitting on it, and the catch which is supposed to hold the child seat doesn't even work.
I took mine back after a week and got a refund

Very poor design
In theory this is a great idea but the design has many flaws.
-The fixing to the toilet are not the usual style and it becomes detached daily.
-The child seat does not stay in the lid it as to be balanced there.
-We have frequent aiming issues due to the gap between the seats.
We have given up on this product and ordered a new regular seat.

Not for us.
We are first time potty trainers, with a boy child. This product is useless for us because his wee comes out between the child seat and adult seat. He does not have the skill yet to direct his flow. We have now bought a plastic seat that just sits on top of the normal seat, with a large lip that stops the wee from spraying out.

Lovely quality but flawed design. Too heavy for little ones to open and close safely. When the whole toilet seat is lifted up it is a dangerous balancing act to make it stay! And finally, it is too easy for children to 'aim' incorrectly and for everything to leak between the small seat and the big seat.

The way this fixes to the toilet is really poor, not the conventional fixing for toilet seats and over use it works loose so constantly needed to be re-tightened. After trying for a couple of weeks it has had to go.......shame as a good concept but poorly executed.
