TP228 Genius Octagonal SurroundSafe™ 12ft Trampoline
Some parts very poorly manufactured - shame....
Great trampoline in principle - really let down by very poor build quality, though. We've had the trampoline up for 3 months over the summer and already parts of the frame have started to rust badly (despite being galvanised).
Also faulty are the long metal straps that hold up the safety net - they slot into each other using a tongue which is attached at one end with 2 very small and totally inadequate spot welds. All the tongues are either detached or working loose, hence the net keeps falling down.
To compound the problem, when the straps pop out of the tongues, the sharp edges of the straps are causing the top of the safety net to fray.
Shame, really. TP spares are looking into the problems - watch this space. Unless they have modified the way they manufacture the straps I will be asking John Lewis for a refund.
For now, my advice is 'do not buy'.

Good trampoline but flawed in parts
We wanted to buy the safest trampoline we could so we decided on this one even though it is so much more expensive than other 12ft trampolines.
In general it's really good, but the opening tunnel has both positive and negative points.
The opening gap overlap is a bit too short to be really safe - the 'tunnel' should be longer because kids could fall out if they bounce towards the opening too fast and uncontrolled (which kids tend to do!). Also the mat area by the opening isn't big enough or tight enough and there aren't enough ties to make it secure without gaps. They stand on this to get out and so the kids feet can go down gaps by the springs or get their leg stuck. Unless mine is just faulty? I'm not sure!
I am probably being more critical because it was so much more money than other models and because it's marketed as this super safe trampoline.
That said, the non-zip tunnel opening idea is great as there is no risk of the kids undoing a zip; I just think TP need to improve the design of the tunnel and mat a bit.
Two annoying negatives about ordering this from John Lewis: 1) there were NO INSTRUCTIONS in the box. How annoying! We found them online but still very irritating having to take a laptop outside to build the trampoline. 2) John Lewis delivered it 2 weeks late. We order lots of stuff from John Lewis and this really surprised us as they don't usually let you down like this. Upsetting because it was due to be here for a birthday party.

Ideal for the children
Love this trampoline, our children are 4 and 6 years and they love it. A wise investment for any family.
My husband and I didn't argue whilst assembling the trampoline!! It took us about 3 hours.
We like the ladder and the tunnel and we are really pleased with this product.

This is a great trampoline and well designed with the skirt to protect wee legs going between springs. It is a bit laborious putting it together (allow 4 hrs) but once erected it feels sturdy. The opening is quite funky, avoiding zips, Velcro etc whist offering good safety. The 8 legs come with 8 straight metal pegs (one for each). There are holes for two pegs in each leg for more security (especially if windy). I purchased the extra pack of 8 zig-zag pegs which when doubled with the enclosed straight pegs give extra security. Altogether a nice product which will hopefully tire out my ninkies so I can start on the vino earlier!

brilliant, no zip!
Brilliant, bouncy trampoline, with all the springs concealed, keeps it shape beautifully. it's great as the entrance on this one it doesn't need zipping up , picture doesn't show this. you crawl in at the side. which means no one can accidentally leave the zip un done and fall out. excellent trampoline, worth the money.

Great but tedious assembly!
Really lovely trampoline - very safe, great size, my 3 year old loves it. I would love to meet the reviewer who put it together single handedly in an hour though! The instructions are fine - could do with a bit of improvement I'd say but the vertical bars can be tricky - as per another reviewer we had two that were very stubborn to click in - what we worked out was you really need the seams on the netting to be totally aligned with the vertical bars - we thought ours were but they were slightly skewed which meant it strained the netting & therefore the poles weren't straight either so we had to undo all the threading and start again so in the end it took us about 4 hours (not so much fun! ! You need about 30 mins just to organise all the parts and screws etc to go so I'd really set aside a morning to do it. Suggest you use the protection cover provided - I thought rain water would drip through it but it actually sits on top. All in all lovely product though.

Easy (ish) to put together. Great quality. Kids love it! Bargain.

I bought this for my son and daughter aged 4 and 1 respectively. My husband put it together within an hour, on his own.
The quality is excellent. The bounce really is uniform right to the edge (I've tested it!) it also looks and feels much more secure with its individual legs.
Went for this size as I didn't want to sacrifice my entire garden and I have to say it is a really good size, but it doesn't look overwhelming. Very very pleased.
