Q & As

Uppababy Cruz Pushchair, Jake Black 5 5 5 5
Brilliant buggy I love this buggy, I've been using it for 4 months now with my little boy and it has been brilliant. It's light and compact but has a basket that is a lot bigger than any other buggy I've seen. It manoeuvres really well and looks comfy! My brake started to get a bit stiff so I phoned uppababy and spoke to a really helpful lady who made a few suggestions which has solved the issue but she said they will fix the buggy and send a loan out for me to use if there were any problems which is reassuring. 04 February 2014
Worth it We decided to go with the Cruz over the Vista because of the size of the wheelbase. We live in London and use public transport- the Cruz fits down the isle of the bus and is light enough for me to carry down the stairs on the Tube. It has a really tight turn circle and is easy to push. I don't normally need to fold it down, but when I do, it is easy. We bought the carrycot for our newborn. The only downside is when the carrycot is attached, the access to the shopping basket is limited. You can only access it via the front of the basket. Not a huge downside. It also comes with a rain cover. I did not realise, but you can buy the snugseat for the Vista and it fits the Cruz. The snugseat means that you can use the chair from birth, without having to buy the carrycot. When I tested the Cruz instore, the brake had broken on the display model. I haven't had any problems with mine, however. It does not have very good suspension, so is really only suitable to footpaths and smooth pavements. Not great for going over bumpy grasslands. 03 February 2014
Compact, light and sturdy Road tested all the John Lewis range and this maneuvered best in store. Has proved a great buy, lightweight, easy to switch seat direction, baby is comfortable enough to have naps whenever put in. Nice big basket and very stable Copes with curbs and on and off buses and trains as is light and compact. I would highly recommend. 27 December 2013
Love our Cruz! My husband and I live in London and don't own a car so we wanted a lightweight pushchair that was compact, easy to fold/unfold, take on public transport, yet comfy to push since we walk a lot. After much research, including reading Which? reviews, we eventually narrowed our decision down to the Uppababy Cruz or the Bugaboo Bee. We looked at pushchairs in store and whilst the Bugaboo Bee was a bit lighter, we decided against it because we found the Bugaboo so difficult to fold and it felt flimsy. After watching other people in the shop struggle to fold/unfold the Bugaboo we knew it wasn't just us and John Lewis staff must have had lots of practice to make it look so easy. The Cruz in contrast was more intuitive to fold, the seat was higher so we wouldn't have to bend down so much to attend to baby (we are average height) and the frame felt sturdy and durable. The Cruz was top rated by Which? as well. When friends have visited they have remarked how easy and comfortable the Cruz is to push compared to other pushchairs. The basket at the bottom is larger, stronger and easier to access compared to the Bugaboo Bee. When we were shopping for pushchairs I didn't rate the basket high on my list of priorities, but now that baby is here I frequently walk to the shops and use the basket to carry things home. The basket is easier to access when using the pushchair rather than with the carrycot, but I think it's still better than the Bugaboo. Having had a summer baby I would also rate the fold out sunshade as a great addition. It means you don't have to mess about with pinning a muslin cloth as I often see other people doing, nor do you need to worry about constantly re-positioning a silly little umbrella. Another useful feature is the lift up flap so you can check on your baby easily when they are facing away from you. The only thing I would mark the Cruz down for is the clasp on the side to keep folded. It's not easy to undo. All in all happy with our purchase. 06 September 2013
Great for travelling around London We live in London so needed a pushchair that was easy to manoeuvre, lightweight and narrow for getting on and off the bus and tube. We definitely made the right choice with the Cruz - it gets down the aisles on the bus no problem and handles sharp turns really well. It folds up and stores easily without having to fiddle around. We also bought the carry cot attachment for use in the first couple of months and this is easily interchangeable with the pushchair attachment. Good value for money as it will last for a while with the adjustable features and various accessories that can be purchased to add-on as our baby gets older. 27 August 2013
