However clean your carpet looks, you can never be too sure what’s lurking within those fibres! The Vax Rapide Ultra 2 W90-RU-P carpet washer uses deep-cleaning action to give you professional carpet cleaning results at home.

Carpets and upholstery can easily be washed with the Rapide Ultra, and as it sucks up spills with ease it is always handy to have around. A deep clean is guaranteed: powered jets pump water and cleaning solution into the carpet, while rotating brushes gently agitate and lift out embedded dirt, odours and allergens.

New Dual V technology dries your carpets more quickly, while the inclusion of a wash tool and hose makes cleaning stairs and upholstery effortless. And if the dirt in your carpet is really stubborn, the included pre-treatment kit should help: simply use the wand to apply the treatment, leave for fifteen minutes, and then clean the carpet as normal.

A powerful cleaner The cleaner was easy to assemble and the instructions were very easy to follow. There is a place for everything on the cleaner and although it looks a little bulky from the back with the cleaning attachments on it they do not get in the way once the cleaner is in use. The pre-treatment wand is a great feature for removing the more stubborn stains from your carpets prior to washing them. It plugs easily into the front of the cleaner and you simply press the trigger and spray evenly over your carpet, leave for 10-15 minutes before washing them. Operating the cleaner is very easy and the manual has very clear instructions. I am only 5ft tall so I was a little worried that the machine might have been too heavy for me to push but it did move very easily over my carpets and some of them have quite a thick pile. To operate you squeeze the trigger which is situated on the handle on the forward stroke and this releases the soap and water onto your carpet, you then release the trigger when pulling the cleaner back and the dirty water is collected in the dirty water tank. The washing tools clip neatly onto the back of the cleaner when not in use and fit easily onto the front when they are. There is a brush which helps to clean the upholstery and the nozzle is just the right size to get into all the awkward places. The hose is fairly rigid which is the only downside to the washing tool, I think it would be better if it was a little more flexible, especially when cleaning stairs. In addition to using the washing tools for the obvious job - washing carpets - it can also be used for picking up spills. I think the Rapide Ultra 2 is an excellent cleaner for carpets and upholstery. It is very easy to use and produces very professional results. I would have no hesitation recommending this cleaner, it is a fantastic price and will add years to your carpets and furniture – a great investment. 06 February 2013

Highly Recommended This Vax is brilliant, highly recommended! It was delivered in a very big box, but once unpacked the machine itself is a reasonable size, weight and very sturdy. I expected it to be really heavy to push around but it moved really easily along my different carpets. We have had carpet cleaners before which have left us with bad backs for days, especially my husband who is 6 foot 8, but as this is an upright machine and of a decent size, no back pain was experienced! We have a dog, and hoover daily so wouldn't have expected many dog hairs to be cleaned up, but the rotating brush on this machine got deep into the pile lifting lots of dog hairs out (which was a bit embarrassing really)!! Cleaners we've used in the past have left carpets soggy and took hours to dry, but this machine left them virtually dry, and as it is January it's not like we had all windows and doors open to help them along, as we've previously had to do. The hand held tool was brilliant for getting into tricky corners, and ideal for the stairs. We also used it on our sofa, chair and pouffe and it brought them up like new, you don't realise how grubby things have got until you clean them! I'm blaming our 2 year old daughter for that one! My mam and dad even commented how fresh smelling our living room was the day after! I think this machine is definitely value for money, and would highly recommend it! 30 January 2013

NOT WORTH THE MONEY PURCHASED THIS WASHER AS IT HAD HAD GOOD REVIEWS. IT REPLACED A BISSELL THAT I HAD FOR 8 YEARS. WISHED I HAD PURCHASED ANOTHER BISSELL. DIDN'T CLEAN MY CARPETS AS I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED. NOT SUITABLE FOR PURPOSE 04 January 2013

Highly Recommended I did a fair amount of research to help me choose and all the reviews here offered high ratings. This machine is light and so easy to use which is very important after heaving furniture around. The booklet tells us the liquid amounts it holds (4.5 litres for clean water, 3.0L for dirty). I liked the suggestion from another reviewer about the funnel and measuring top - personally I use a 1L used tonic bottle with container placed in the kitchen sink! The carpets do dry very quickly and I am completely thrilled that my cream and fawn coloured carpets are renewed, stains cleared (we have three dogs) and smell so clean. I have not ,so far, had need of the pre-treatment wand. I managed to assemble the handle onto the machine reasonably easily and I am usually hopeless at these kind of things. I wish I had bought this earlier. 16 October 2012

BRILLIANT Being a carpet type of person as opposed to a laminate /wood floor person. This product is perfect for me. The cleaner and stain remover took out an old stain that a professional carpet cleaner said could not be removed. Perfect if you have pets as pet stains come out too. 29 September 2012

Fantstic product - great quality carpet cleaning I did a great deal of research before going ahead with the purchase, but I am 100% happy with this product and the cleaning results. The Vax Rapide Ultra 2 W90-RU-P Carpet Washer is easy to assemble and use. Although my carpets weren't even very dirty, I just really wanted to freshen them up, so was quite surprised that the extracted water was still quite"dirty" so this clearly indicates that it did work well at pulling out dirt that we may not even think is there. I have cream carpets and after claening they appeared brighter than before and softer to the touch. This is a good quality product that i would recommend. 10/10 from me I would rate the excellent customer service from the retailer equally!!! 12 September 2012

Extremely useful Carpet Washer This machine is easy to use, and does an excellent job. However, I found it better to use a simple spray bottle for the stain remover, rather than filling the machine with stain remover and having to dispose of the excess in order to then fill the machine with the washing liquid. The machine sucks out most of the liquids used, and leaves carpets almost dry. The hand tool for edges and upholstery also sucks back most of the liquids used. I wish I had bought this machine earlier, it is so useful. 09 August 2012

A brilliant product - here are a few useful tips Despite our old vax carpet cleaner still working after 20 years, we decided it was about time we upgraded. And we haven't been disappointed! This new machine is absolutely brilliant and gives what can only be described as close to a professional clean as possible. It's seriously good value for money too. Our carpets would cost £600 to clean - so the investment made has already paid for itself. What's more, just after we bought it, we found it cheaper on the high street - and as usual, John Lewis priced matched. Why bother to buy anywhere else? Here are a few tips: Firstly, the water tank doesn't need to be difficult to fill. Simply buy a cheap, plastic funnel, pop this in the slot and pour - then nothing spills. It's a shame Vax don't supply one. Secondly, the water tank has no liquid measurements printed on the side, so you will need a measuring jug. It's a shame Vax don't print litre measurements on the side of the tank. Thirdly, when measuring out your carpet shampoo, find a cap from an old aerosol can (or something similar) that takes 40ml. It's easier to use this than fiddle around with a measuring jug. It's a shame Vax don't supply one as part of the kit. Fourthly, the serial number is low down on the side of the machine, not on the bottom as the instruction booklet says. (The booklet is very easy to follow). Finally, washing out the dirty water container doesn't need to be difficult. Fill it up with warm water and give it a good slosh around. Any fluff caught inside will dislodge easily. Leave it upside down to dry for a day or so. Don't put it away wet because it might go mouldy inside. The same applies to the machine itself. As it won't be used very often, make sure it is completely dry before storing. All that aside, this machine does what it says on the tin. It's very powerful, hardly uses any electricity - and did a brilliant job on our carpets. Highly recommended. 01 August 2012
