I was very excited when I received the humidifier yesterday, and it worked very well when I tried it, nice mist and almost silent.
However, I got some problems after a while, when there was no mist coming out while the humidifier was turned on. Due to this, after the whole night, water level did not go down at all.
Also, I found a very annoying feature, there are 3 little windows near the power button (which you can see on the photo), water or condensed water (not sure which) was coming out from the windows last night and my table was entirely wet because of this. If you tilt it slightly, a large amount of water pours out. I'm not sure whether it's due to the design problem or my faulty item.
However, John Lewis Customer Services Team is extremely nice and efficient. I called them just now, and they will help me exchange my order. However, if the design is like that (with windows where large amount of water will come out), I probably need to buy another humidifier.
Nevertheless, thanks a lot John Lewis Customer Services Team for your help!

Rated 5 out of 5 by SouthCoastLady Really helped me to breathe
I have been very unwell with a chest infection and exacerbated asthma. The humidifier really made a difference. The silent operation and simple controls were good. However, hard to clean and dry in all the crannies and the seal on the water tank lid takes herculean strength to open.

I bought this as my 12 week old baby has been congested and its been interfering with her sleep on a daily basis.
The humidifier arrived and I read the instructions carefully while setting up. It worked really well for 2hrs then it suddenly shut down, I assumed that the water had run out, however there water tank was still half full. I tried everything to get it back up and running however nothing worked until I emptied the tank and refilled, it started running again for about 40 minutes before shutting down again.
I am extremely disappointed as I was really hoping this would help my daughter's breathing, however it was a complete waste of money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Debdids One of the best things I bought for my child's well-being
This is one of 2 (*see note) of the best things I've bought for my son's well being. It's safe and easy to use and dramatically reduces a cough and enables a good night's sleep. I've only needed to turn it up half way - it makes things quite damp in my son's fairly small bedroom otherwise - and usually put it on before his bath so that by the time he goes to bed, the air is conducive to a good night's sleep. I do find it a bit annoying to clean - daily rinse and weekly bleach - as it's a bit of a fiddle to get to the point where I feel it's done thoroughly, but the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages. We're on our 2nd one now - the first lasted 3.5 years.

We purchased this humidifier after months of our 2 year old son waking in the night with a terrible cough. After numerous trips to the doctors, where the cough was diagnosed as viral (so no antibiotics could be prescribed), it was suggested by a friend that we try a humidifier.
After a relatively small amount of research we purchased this humidifier. Our decision was mainly based on cost, brand name and the fact it was a cool mist humidifier - purely for safety reasons as it would be located in a toddlers room.
With the exception of the first night of use, our son has slept through the night and his cough has subsided - this is not a coincidence! He does not cough hardly at all any more in the night and not badly enough to wake up. It has truly been the best money we've spent and such a relief that he isn't coughing as much (and for us to also get a full night's sleep again!). The paperwork states that the water tank holds enough water to provide 8 hours of use - we have it on for 11 hours (at 50% power) and not even half the water is used. We have also, so far, not used the menthol sticks (which can be bought separately); the steam alone seems to be working perfectly and relieving his dry cough. The machine is also very quiet.
One tip - when on full power, the amount of steam the machine creates is A LOT! I switched the machine on after our son was asleep, rather than beforehand, for fear of the water running out in the early hours of the morning. He woke in the night terrified as his room was full of steam - I didn't think this one through! The next morning we spoke it through with him and let him run his hand through the steam to show him it was harmless. That night we turned it on before he went to sleep, on medium power, so steam was only visible for a split second when leaving the machine but for no longer. From then on, until now, he is sleeping soundly again and his cough has substantially subsided - we have been using the machine for 10 days now.
