Proof that hosiery doesn’t have to be plain and functional, Wolford’s striking and distinctive designs elevate tights into being an integral part of the ensemble.

In 1949, Reinhold Wolff of Vorarlberg and Walter Palmers of Vienna founded Woll &Co. KG, which would become Wolford the following year. They were early adopters of the use of nylon in making stockings, and in 1953 they made the first double nylon stockings.

Their big idea was to employ circular knitting machines, which could produce seamless tubes of fabric, ideal for tights. They continue to use this technique to this day.

In 1964 Wolford began making women’s outerwear, and in 1988 the company restructured to become the Wolford AG corporation. In 1995 the company entered the stock market. Today, Woldford distributes to 65 countries around the world.
